Preview of the impossible conversations catalogue in pictures:
As the Metropolitan Museum's
Costume Institute in New York prepares to launch their 'Schiaparelli &
Prada: Impossible Conversations' exhibition, we take a look at what to expect
via a preview of the accompanying catalogue.
The 308-page book follows the
central theme of this year's major fashion exhibition at the Museum of Modern
Art in New York: a meeting of minds of two of history's most acclaimed and
beloved female fashion designers - Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada. Throughout
the book, vintage photographs of Schiaparelli's designs are juxtaposed next to
new images of Miuccia Prada's work which fall along similar themes. These are
shot by leading fashion photographers David Sims and Toby McFarlan Pond.
The exhibition opens with the glamorous Met Bal gala on May 7 and opens to the public on May 10.
