Christmas Party Dress Code

The start of December marks a very special time in my heart — party season!!!
There are holiday invitations rolling in and before you  figure out what to wear, I  suggest you take special note of the holiday dress code. If you’re wondering what all of those little terms mean — casual, cocktail, formal, black-tie — I am here to break it down for you, all with a holiday twist.

The Cocktail dress code category is one of my favorites. The cocktail dress code etiquette is a way of stating the dress code that is suitable for the evening; more formal than casual clothes and less formal than evening wear i.e. black tie. It’s all about having fun here, so go on and pull out that little red dress you’ve been aching to wear, and if you’re feeling experimental, I love the idea of dressing up a chic black jumpsuit with statement jewels and accessories.

The Black-tie dress code is the highest dressing code in the book -wearing casual or informal wear would be considered an insult to the host. A long gown or super fancy cocktail dress is a MUST, but that’s not all you need. Black Tie Optional dress code doesn’t really affect us ladies, as we have the choice of a wearing a cocktail dress to most Black Tie events. However, it is still a formal occasion and you should ensure your hemline is not too short and the dress is not too risqué.

When you find the right dress, it’s crucial to complete the look with sleek heels, jewelry, and a fancy updo and flawless makeup palette.

If your invite reads “formal,” that means that  you need  to step up your style game. For this, you must wear either a formal cocktail dress or a long gown.

If the dress code is casual that means that this is your chance to show your personal style in many ways; dark skinny jeans, leather leggings, miniskirts — all will do. Just remember to add a little shine on the top, to show off your holiday spirit.

Rihanna´s Second Footwear Collection with Manolo Blahnik

The 28-year-old singer songwriter unveiled her debut shoe line with the fashion designer in May this year, and the pair have joined forces once again on their latest winter footwear range called Savage, which will feature three boots. According to WWD.com the forthcoming designs have been inspired by the longstanding and durable Timberland shoes, as well as her love for suede and shearling materials.

The capsule will see the Timberland style boot re-designed to include a stiletto heel and fur trim called the Fallon, a thigh-high boot with a sheepskin lining made from black pony skin and a floral laser-cut detail titled the Dominique, and the Alexis, which is a knee-high lace up boot with fur trim.

The creations come in a muted and earthy colour palette, as the Alexis will be available in ivory or cinnamon shade, whilst the fur detailing on the Fallon comes in either ivory or coffee. Rihanna x Manolo Blahnik’s Savage collection will be available to buy in select Manolo Blahnik stores, and online from Wednesday (16.11.16).

Meanwhile, the Barbadian beauty – who is the creative director at PUMA – has launched a number of lines under the sportswear giant’s label including her debut footwear line the Fenty x PUMA Creepers.

And Rihanna’s signature platform trainer has led to her to be crowned the Shoe of the Year award at the Footwear News Achievement Award.

The ‘Work’ hitmaker – who has also designed for Stance hosiery – previously took to social media to share the news. Alongside a picture, which shows the imprint of the highly-coveted design in sand, on her Instagram account, she wrote: “God be the Glory!!!

What a blessing to be honored with this prestigious award, and to be the first woman receiving ‘SHOE OF THE YEAR’ at #FNAA !!

Never could I have imagined the amount of support and love we got from around the world for #THECREEPER !!! Thank you to everyone who represented and made the movement!!! One Love . #FENTYxPUMA (sic).”

Jennifer Lopez Hot In Zuhair Murad Couture Jumpsuit

Jennifer Lopez attended the 17th Annual Latin Grammys on Thursday in Las Vegas, where she performed at the event for the first time.

The beauty stole the style spotlight in a glittery black jumpsuit from Zuhair Murad’s Winter 2016 couture collection. She was covered in head-to-toe sequins and lace detailing and showed off her toned body in the form fitting one-piece.

Jennifer later changed into an embellished white mini dress for her performance. At the event was J. Lo’s ex-husband and close friend Marc Anthony, who was honored for Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year.

They surprised everyone when they got together on the stage for a duet. “Marc is a living legend,” Lopez said from the stage. “He is a magical and pure artist giving away classics that will stay forever.  He will always be many things in my life.”

Both of them have been working on a new all-Spanish album, which is reported for release this month.
Later at the night JLo changed to another one of her go-to houses in a shimmering Elie Saab playsuit that showcased her killer legs. The neckline was plunging too—a Lopez trademark.

Bloggers Outfits To Copy for the weekend

Today, the girl needs more than an outfit, a boyfriend, and a camera. Bloggers need to think about production quality, editorial strategy, and affiliate programs to really gain a foothold on the web. They are more like editors, creating publications worthy of a million-person audience than a few thousand super-fans. Nine times out of 10, the bloggers who move merchandise, who get people talking, who attract repeat advertisers, love to strike a pose.So we say the personal style blogger isn’t going anywhere—-in fact, she’s more powerful than ever.

Here are some fresh looks to take notes ....

How to Dress Like Coco Chanel

When it comes to timeless fashion, on of the first names that comes to mind for me is Coco Chanel. Coco’s fashion weaves through history over the last two centuries. One of the things that makes Coco Chanel’s style so special, is that her clothes are still modern today. Check out how to channel her fashion wisdom in your own closet sometimes without looking further than a string of pearls and a little black dress

First of all create your own style. Chanel believed in embracing new fashion and trying unusual combinations. She believed fashion was made to eventually become unfashionable, so take chances.

Start with the little black dress. This may be Coco Chanel’s most enduring gift to women’s fashion. Before she popularized the black dress in the 1920s, it was mostly used for mourning periods.

Wear wide-leg pants. Choose pants that fit the current fashion trends, but be willing to try high-waisted and mid-rise versions in white. She wore these pants with espadrilles in the summer.

Try combinations of black and white. This was her favorite color combination, as shown by her little black dress. Color blocking hats, scarves, sweaters, shirts, pants, shoes and coats creates definition and classic style. Once you have color blocking perfected with black and white, start adding brighter colors.

Buy a tweed suit. This should include a jacket without a collar and a pencil skirt. The jacket often featured a ribbon trim. Thanks to Chanel and Jackie Kennedy Onassis, these tweed suits are still sold today. The most elaborate versions include a matching hat.

Find a pair of real pearls. Coco Chanel wore single and multiple strands of pearls as an everyday accessory. Wear several types of jewelry at once. She was often seen with studs, necklaces and rings.

Invest in shoes. A great pair of heels is the icing on the cake. Shine the shoes and keep them well heeled. Patent leather is a great choice for work or evening wear.
Coco Chanel is quoted saying “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”

Use a signature scent. It doesn’t have to be a Chanel fragrance, but it should be something that defines you as much as your clothing. Consider switching fragrances between summer and winter.

Layer Your Sweater

Whether you layer to get a chic polished look or to just stay warm, it’s always nice to have some fresh ideas on hand.

Choose the Right Sweater – The best layering sweater is one that is slightly thicker. You don’t want the see the underlying buttons poke through the top. It doesn’t need to be too long so that you can see the hem of the button down peek out from underneath.

Choosing the Right Shirt – You can go with almost any button down underneath a thicker sweater, but for thinner sweaters, you’ll want to choose something light and delicate.

Roll Your Sleeves – The key steps to getting the perfect chic layered-look is scrunching up your sweater sleeves near your elbow, bringing the cuff up over the sweater, and neatly rolling the shirt up to the cuff. This step highlights the two fabrics without adding bulkiness to your sleeves.

Get Cozy: Best Knits For Fall

No doubt about it: Gone are the days of sundresses, sandals, cut-offs, and crop tops (insert thumbs-down emoji here).  It might be brisk out there, but I’ve got the perfect reason to wipe away that post-summertime sadness: sweater weather. Because who doesn’t love a cozy sweater? Um, basically no one. They are exactly the kind of thing that people get “excited” for during fall. There’s something about a giant, oversized pullover or soft, luxe cardigan that just brings a sense of warmth and comfort on a crisp fall day. Add in a pair of killer boots, a hat and a nice hot beverage, and you’re set to take on fall like a pro. From stripes to prints to cable-knits, I rounded up the coziest sweaters to brave fall’s chilly weather in style.

“Socks And Heels’ Trend

Socks with heels is a bold fashion statement that we have seen on editors and bloggers who have bold and adventurous style, but that doesn’t mean you can’t absolutely rock that trend, too. If you think that classic pumps and sandals too formal for street wear, then wear socks with them to make it cool and more casual.

You can wear quirky socks and shoes combo in different contrasting shades, or wear a quirky ensemble in your outfit like a skirt, blouse, dress, or even accessories. When wearing statement socks and shoes combos, always play it safe with the rest of your outfit and keep it simple and polished. And when wearing more colourful outfits with different patterns – opt for a neutral combination of your socks-and-shoes to balance it out.

so .. can you rock this trend ?
