How to wear Stylish Flats

Ballet flats will always have a special place in my heart. They’re my go-to choice when my feet are begging for a break from wearing heels all week-long and wedges are just too casual for the look that I have in mind. They’re really simple and, well, basic if you don’t know how to wear them and what to wear them with but you see, even without the sexy 6-inch heels, ballet flats can look very dressy – given, of course, that you wear them with the right stuff. Here are some tips and ideas on anything but basic ways to wear ballet flats.

WITH MENSWEAR INSPIRED LOOKS – menswear inspired looks are great and all but sometimes they can be a bit too masculine and can overpower your true style which is dainty and feminine so to keep things at the right balance, why not wear something girly and subtle like ballet flats along with a menswear inspired look? The touch of girliness from ballet flats is sure to give your look just the right amount of femininity it deserves.

INSPIRED BY THE REAL THING – most of the ballet flats you’ll see out there aren’t really what legit ballet shoes look like. If you’re looking for a unique pair of ballet flats to get you out of that basic rut, why not go for a pair that’s truly inspired by the real thing? Have you seen Jessica Simpson’s Mandalaye flats? They’re gorgeous and they look like real ballet shoes, too, especially with the square-toe detail the design features.

WITH SOCKS – just like sandals, ballet flats aren’t usually the kind of shoes you’d wear with socks but if you’re looking for non-basic ways to wear your ballet flats then this is one of your best bets. This combo will give your outfit a lot of that school girl / retro kind of vibe so make sure to pick out clothes that will go well with these look. Knee high or over the knee socks are best for this look but shorter socks will work just as well, too. Want to get longer-looking legs? Wear the same color for your socks and shoes. This will create and elongating effect on your legs.

SHOW SOME SKIN – the usual basic combo would be skinny jeans and ballet flats or leggings and ballet flats and while these combos work pretty well, they’re really quite common and basic. Step up your style game and show some skin by pairing your ballet flats with cropped pants instead. They’re less mainstream but they work well and look chic. Capri pants work, too.

The denim on denim trends has been around for quite a while now and if you haven’t already tried it, you’re missing out. It’s a very cool look that’s perfectly wearable all year long. You could say it’s very much like doing a Canadian tux except that it doesn’t strictly have to be a jacket and pants combo. There are so many ways to rock the denim on denim trend and each one is truly gorgeous and fab. If you’re not a big fan of wearing denim tops, you can still rock the look by switching denim with softer and lighter chambray, especially for warmer days in spring and summer. The denim on denim look, also known as the double denim look, is a stylish way to put together an easy, laid-back and relaxed casual outfit though you can always dress it up or down a bit to achieve different looks too ....

Styling : Summer to Fall Wardrobe

While there is certainly a definite update to a wardrobe that happens when fall comes around, there’s no need to completely get rid of your warmer weather items. There are some key pieces from summer that can be re-worked to be incorporated into the cooler months. The key is to think about layering, as well as adding tights, jackets, and scarves to existing pieces. If you’re ready to change it up for the transitional months, here’s a list of garments you can keep in the rotation for weeks to come.

 

 

White T-Shirt – This is probably the most versatile piece you’ll ever own, and chances are you’ll keep it around throughout all the seasons. Add a scarf, jacket and dark denim for a fall-ready look. And here are some other tips on how to layer and glam it up.

 

 Bright Colors – Don’t shy away from bright (even neon!) colors for fall. If you pair them with leather (a jacket, pants, or even a circle skirt), it will fit right into the season. Shorts – If you have shorts in a thick fabric, or leather, they will work well with a structured jacket and tights.

 

Finish off the look with boots and jewel toned accessories.

 

Summer Dresses – Florals are in for fall in a big way, so if you have dresses with prints, re-purpose them with a jacket, scarf, and tights with boots for a fashion-forward look.

 

 Open-toed Shoes – More and more, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear open-toed footwear for fall, considering how much warmer the summer-to-fall months are becoming. Keep peep-toe booties and sandals (particularly ones with thicker heels) in your closet for warmer days. Pair them with warmer colors in the rest of your ensemble for a season-appropriate look.

Designers i like : ISABEL MARANT

Isabel Marant is effortless, chic, and the ultimate trendsetter. This French designer not only has one of the most coveted design lines in the world, but pulls it all off with an attitude of nonchalant sophistication.

Reflected in most of her designs is a mix of bohemia and tomboy influence. Very Parisian street chic. Growing up, Marant would constantly be found donning her father’s wardrobe because she identified as a tomboy and despised anything girly. Her bohemian influences stem from inspiration gathered as a child, touring Asian, African, and Indian destinations with her parents.

Marant’s 2014 Spring/Summer collection was fresh and true to her signature “tomboy meets bohemian” style. This new collection debuted with just a bit more tomboy edge as silver rivets adorned leather pants and boots. Soft florals paired with sharp edged sandals and boots were also distinct elements in this line. The footwear also subtly resembled a man’s tie or bowtie, which again is so fitting to Marant’s true style.

What I think we’ll begin to see in the summer street fashion (with influences from this collection) is monochromatic black and white and edgy textures paired with soft chiffon florals.
