February is Heart Month: How to Support

If heart health hits close to home in your family or with your friends, you’ll be excited to know February is “Heart Month,” and there’s a whole bunch of great ways you can support the cause and help bring heart health awareness to the table. If you’re ready to get started and learn a little bit more, here’s some info on this year’s “Heart Month..

Uncontrolled high blood pressure is a leading cause of heart disease and stroke. High blood pressure often shows no signs or symptoms, which is why having your blood pressure checked regularly is important. It’s easy to get your blood pressure checked. You can get screened at your doctor’s office and drugstores or even check it yourself at home, using a home blood pressure monitor.

Once you’re sure you’ve got your blood pressure under control, it’s time to help spread the word to family and friends. Think about offering a ride to older relatives and neighbors to visit their doc or a local pharmacy for an annual blood pressure screening.

Wear red on National Wear Red Day (February 6th) to help remember and raise awareness for all those who have been affected by heart disease. Share your Wear Red efforts on social media with selfies, pet picks and anything else you’re doing to raise awareness. Join thousands of others who will use #HeartHealth to raise awareness.

There are so many ways you can support Heart Health and help raise awareness during Heart Month. For more information about all of the ways you can help, check out The American Heart Association @ heart.org.

Summer is Flirting Time !!

Maybe you’re not so great with first impressions, or maybe you just want to sharpen up your skills. We know all the basics. You laugh, you make eye contact, you touch his arm. I’m yawning already. Are you? Well you’ve come to the right place! I’ll help you out without the basics! I’ve got some ways to help you flirt better, even though I’m pretty sure you don’t need any help with that million-watt smile of yours! Either way, check out some of my tips below and let me know what you think in the comments.

Be Yourself- According to science, flirting is something you already know how to do. That arm touch and all that eye contact—well, you already have that down. It’s evolution! All you have to do is be yourself and the rest will come naturally.

Try To Make A Connection- Let go of trying to make an impression. Honestly, first impressions are more based on physical appearance, body language, and the sound of your voice. What you actually say makes up about 7% of someone’s first impression of you. So try to let go of that ego and focus on making an actual connection so that 7% counts. Besides, the goal of flirting isn’t to impress, it’s to show that you have an interest in that other person. So try your best to make that interest be known.

The Golden Rule- Treat the person you’re flirting with like a human being. Again, seek to make a connection! People can tell when you’re trying to treat them like a conquest or a challenge. Go into flirting with the idea that you’re going in to meet another person. Now get out there! You got this, girl!

Caitlyn Jenner on the Cover of Vanity Fair

In what is sure to be one of the most iconic magazine covers in entertainment history, Vanity Fair has just revealed Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, as photographed by Annie Liebovitz for the July 2015 issue. Buzz Bissinger was given exclusive access to the Kardashians as the transformation took place. Now, as rumored, Caitlyn Jenner reveals her female identity and shares her emotional journey of what it means to her to live as a female.

The former Olympian bravely began her transformation months ago and was quite public about her struggle with identity when she went on the air to speak with Diane Sawyer in April.
On a personal level, Bruce Jenner was a friend and someone I cared about very much. Now that she has found her soul and identity in Caitlyn, I am incredibly happy for her and applaud her for living her life in her own way -without fear. Only the desire to live fully and with love.

Congratulations, Caitlyn. Welcome. Sending you much, much love.

Spring Cleaning

As the saying goes, “April Showers Bring May Flowers,” so the timing is just right for being indoors getting your life and house organized for those sunny days ahead, right? With warmer weather just on the horizon, you can imagine how good it would feel to get your de-cluttering out of the way.  Heading into the summer season feeling lighter and more organized will help give you loads of time for the important stuff – like some fun in the sun! Not exactly sure where to start or what to focus on? No worries! Here are a few tips for getting organized this spring – from your closet to your computer.

De-clutter your digital life. This one sounds pretty overwhelming to many of us. The work inbox is full and your mobile phone is overflowing with photos and videos. It’s time to nip the one right now. Throw on some tunes, grab a glass of wine and go to town with your computer. Delete old emails that you no longer need and organize anything you must save into folders. Regardless – get it all out of your inbox so that you can focus again. Still got some energy? Move on to your phone – it’s time to move all those photos and videos over to the cloud and free up some memory for your phone. When you finish these two tasks, you’ll feel ah-mazing.
Head to your closet. It’s just time to pull it all out – do a major dump of clothes and shoes right onto your bed or the floor.  Make a few piles: donate, sell, dump and keep. Now go to town. On the fence about something? Ask yourself if you’ve worn the piece in the last year – if you haven’t, say goodbye. This can be a tough one – but you’ll feel incredible the next time you open that closet door.
De-clutter your desk. Is your desk at work overwhelming you just like your closet? It’s time to give it a major de-clutter. Just like your email, being overwhelmed by your desk can easily weigh on your performance at work, leaving you struggling to find things or simply frozen by the overwhelming amount of stuff. Take it drawer by drawer and shelf by shelf, saving only what you absolutely need.
Makeover your makeup. How long has it been since you’ve given your makeup bag or vanity a good overhaul? Feeling overwhelmed by all the old cosmetics you’re clinging onto? It’s time to take a good hard look at what’s still good, what you actually use and what needs to be tossed and replaced. This is the perfect excuse to freshen up your look for spring!
Kitchen cleanup. What about the kitchen cabinets, pantry, fridge and junk drawers? When is the last time they got a good de-cluttering and cleaning? Tis the season for giving everything a good overhaul – and the kitchen is the perfect candidate too. Take a good hard look at expiration dates, freezer burn and all the little goodies taking up space in the junk drawer.
Ready to tackle all of these areas to leave yourself ready for summer with no clutter? How do you declutter?

Keep cleaning
