How to style KAKI

Khaki pants have a very easy and casual look to them but they’re not exactly the top choice for bottoms for a lot of fashionistas simply because they have a better rep with country club golfers and horse riders. However, with the right pieces and the right accessories, you can create a stunning street style look with a pair of these. Here are some tips and ideas on chic ways to wear khaki pants.

WEAR IT WITH A POP OF COLOR – since khaki pants are pretty neutral, a nice pop of color somewhere in your outfit would surely do it lots of good. You can choose to wear a bright colored top for a fun and chic look or do a head to toe neutral look and wear bright statement accessories instead for your pop of color.

GO UTILITARIAN – on the other hand, if you’re not in the mood for bright and bold colors today, you can always do as the New Yorkers do and create a utilitarian look. A chic parka would be nice with khaki pants in fall or winter while a gorgeous but light trench coat would pair up great with it for summer / spring.

THE CLASSIC – another look that you can do with khaki pants is the timeless classic combo of khaki and white. Choose a crisp white button up shirt to create this look and lend it a posh look and feel to it. This is a great way to wear khaki to the office without getting too casual. You can polish it even further by adding a blazer in a neutral color. If you want something more relaxed, you can go for a simple white tee instead.

Trendguide: Mix Metallics Into Your Outfit

Metallic pieces used to be worn only during nighttime events (and 80s themed ones) but today they’re everywhere – from the runway to the streets to the malls and everywhere else fashionistas would be spotted. Metallics have made it to the top list of trend to try this summer and it’s not to late to give this one a go. Now, some women think that wearing metallic pieces during the day and for your everyday ordinary looks is a bit too much but the truth is, with the right pieces and a little bit of tweaking and styling, you can wear metallic pieces anytime, anywhere. Here are some tips on how to wear metallic pieces.
1. Try a metallic suit– it may seem a bit much for some and it may not be totally office-friendly but a metallic suit is a great outfit to reach for it you want to make a statement or if you’re looking for a head-turning alternative to a gorgeous dress that you can wear to parties. Make sure your suit has just the right metallic sheen to it so that’s it’s not too overly empowering and make sure not to wear any more metallic pieces or carry metallic accessories as you’re already wearing metallics from head to toe, basically.

2. Strut your stuff in a metallic bikini– want to stand out at the beach without wearing too many statement pieces? That’s easy. Simply choose to wear a metallic swimsuit / bikini instead of a regular one. The metallic sheen will reflect just the right amount of light to capture other people’s attention without totally blinding them. Metallic bikinis are great when you want something that’s unique and will draw attention to that sexy beach body you’ve been working on for so long.

3. Pair it with neutrals– if you want to down play the ‘flashiness’ of metallics, one really great way to do so and keep your outfit looking classy is to wear it with neutrals. This combination is like a fresh twist on the minimalistic look. It’s simple, subtle and classy all at the same time.

5. Accessorize with metallics– if you’re not sure you can pull off actually wearing metallic clothes but would still like to get a bit of that nice sheen in on your look, you can accessorize with metallics instead. Metallic shoes, belts, purses and bangles are just some of the most stylish ways to accessorize a plain and simple outfit.

Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Now that the New Year is in full swing, it’s tough to not think about what’s next…and, that means Valentine’s Day, of course! Whether you’re celebrating a lifetime together or you just met your honey, getting snuggly on Valentine’s is a must. Put some pep in this year’s Valentine’s routine with a hot night at home or even something totally out of the norm. Need some ideas? Here’s a look at some of the best Valentine’s Day date nights out there.

Get hot (and steamy) in the kitchen! Nothing says I love you like a homemade meal, especially when it’s a favorite of your significant other. Develop the menu specifically with your better half in mind – hitting all the sweet spots when it comes to faves.
How about letting out your inner athlete…together! Throw some ice skates on or break out the cross-country skis, it’s time to get your heart rates up and your sweat on. Enjoy a relaxing massage or beautiful dinner after you’ve burned some serious calories.
Bust out your best lingerie. It’s not every night of the week that the skimpy lingerie makes an appearance, so why not make that added effort on the big Vday. It might not be your warm cozy flannels – but show some skin for your partner this year. Trust cupid on this one – it will not disappoint.
Been totally stressed and focused on work, home or kiddos lately? Book a couples massage for a whole hour – just the two of you in your most relaxed and mellow state. Sharing an intimate experience like this will definitely leave you feeling relaxed and romanced to the max. Got a little extra time to spare? Grab dessert and drinks afterward to sweeten the occasion.
Dig deep into your creative spirit to jot down the words that will tell your partner just how much you care. Whether it’s a simple note, letter or even a poem, taking the time to put pen to paper means so much and those words can be savored for years to come. Make your words the highlight of your dinner date when you have it waiting on the table at the restaurant – with flowers, of course!
Go back to the place it all began. Take your sweetie back to the spot where you had your first date to recreate those special memories. Can’t make it back to that spot – recreate the experience in your home or somewhere close by!
Make your house super romantic. We all know it’s every girl’s dream to come home to a house full of rose petals and lit candles – so why not make it happen?
Go for a night away. Can’t pull off a full vacay during Valentine’s week – that’s OK. One sweet night away (even if it’s just down the street!) at a fancy hotel will feel like the full on prince and princess treatment. Stay in the room all night long, just enjoying one another’s company. How special is that?
What’s your dream Valentine’s date night? xo

Outfit Tricks

Winter dressing can be a little troublesome, with the layering and what not. Although this is the case, you can still make your outfit look more expensive – without purchasing high-fashion items.  To accomplish this, all you just need to do is follow these tips that can make your outfit look more sophisticated.

BELT YOUR COAT

A frumpy coat can keep you warm through the blizzards, but wearing it plainly can make you look more like a slob. Upgrade your look without wasting your hard-earned money just by belting your coat. Not only will it highlight your waist, it can add dimension to your simple coat as well.

DECORATE YOUR TURTLENECK

A turtleneck is a simple topper that can keep you warm during winter. Make this cold season attire look more fabulous by wearing a necklace over it.

Go Leather on Leather

Leather is one of the most luxurious fabrics ever. Look more expensive than ever by wearing your leather pants/leggings with leather boots. More than just sophistication, a leather-on-leather tandem can keep you warm for the entire day.

GO HEAVY WITH JACQUARD

Jacquard is an intricately woven fabric that is perfect for the winter. While it has a tinge of exclusiveness with it, you can achieve a finer look by choosing clothes made of heavy jacquard fabric. Avoid thinner jacquard types as they tend to look sloppy.

Choose a wool HAT

While you might love your beanie for the head warmth it provides, the truth of the matter is it gives off a ‘cheaper’ vibe. If you want to look more sophisticated, nix the beanie for a classier wool hat. It’s not as expensive, but it can make you feel like a thousand bucks. xo
