When fashion week rolls around, you’ll be able to spot me in front of my computer or my IPhone screen looking up images of off-duty models. What is it with models and their cool and sleek street style? Their looks are almost as covetable as the looks they rock on the runway and I can’t help but take away my own fashion tips for these too-cool-for-school high fashion babes. Want to find out some of the tips that I have used to update my own personal style? Check them out below and get ready to feel some fashion envy.

Rock and Roll- Freja Beha Erichsen loves black and leather, which is why her style is my personal go-to when it comes to trying something edgy is rock and roll. To get Freja’s motorcycle look, consider investing in a leather jacket or leather pants. Make your outfit all black and opt you’re your favorite band t-shirt.

Keep It Sleek- Take a page out of Kendal Jenner’s lookbook and focus on sleek styles. Try out a form-fitting top, like the one Kendal wore during Paris Fashion Week. Focus on skinny jeans, as models are often photographed wearing them.

Funk It Up- Coco Rocha has long retired from the runway, but her fashion week styles still are one of the first to catch my eye. She keeps her look comfortable yet funky in this patterned, colorful jumpsuit.

Winter dressing can be a little troublesome, with the layering and what not. Although this is the case, you can still make your outfit look more expensive – without purchasing high-fashion items.  To accomplish this, all you just need to do is follow these tips that can make your outfit look more sophisticated.

BELT YOUR COAT

A frumpy coat can keep you warm through the blizzards, but wearing it plainly can make you look more like a slob. Upgrade your look without wasting your hard-earned money just by belting your coat. Not only will it highlight your waist, it can add dimension to your simple coat as well.

DECORATE YOUR TURTLENECK

A turtleneck is a simple topper that can keep you warm during winter. Make this cold season attire look more fabulous by wearing a necklace over it.

Go Leather on Leather

Leather is one of the most luxurious fabrics ever. Look more expensive than ever by wearing your leather pants/leggings with leather boots. More than just sophistication, a leather-on-leather tandem can keep you warm for the entire day.

GO HEAVY WITH JACQUARD

Jacquard is an intricately woven fabric that is perfect for the winter. While it has a tinge of exclusiveness with it, you can achieve a finer look by choosing clothes made of heavy jacquard fabric. Avoid thinner jacquard types as they tend to look sloppy.

Choose a wool HAT 

While you might love your beanie for the head warmth it provides, the truth of the matter is it gives off a ‘cheaper’ vibe. If you want to look more sophisticated, nix the beanie for a classier wool hat. It’s not as expensive, but it can make you feel like a thousand bucks. xo

Trendguide: Fluted Skirts

Fluted skirts are very versatile and they’re universally flattering as well. If you’re looking for a skirt that will give you a shapely silhouette or something that can balance out a rather robust curve then this is something that you should definitely consider adding to your wardrobe. The fluted skirt also goes by a lot of other names including the mermaid skirt, the trumpet skirt and the flared hem skirt. It can be worn to achieve lots of different looks from the 20s flapper look to a simple but flirty modern day look. 1. For the office – one really nice way to wear a fluted skirt is to wear it with either a dressy button up or a blazer and wear it to the office. 3. Back to basics – lastly, if you’re looking for a way to get the most bang for your buck from purchasing a fluted skirt, I would suggest getting a basic one in a fairly neutral color. This makes it easier for you to mix and match your fluted skirt with anything, no matter what color, style, cut or level of frilliness it may have.

Black and white has always been a classic color combo. It’s foolproof and never out of style. It’s one of those color combinations you can turn to when you don’t have much time to plan for another one as it is guaranteed to look good on anyone, no matter what skin tone, body shape or even age. You’ll want to be careful so your look doesn’t come off too bland or boring and that’s where styling and accessorizing comes in. Ultimate Fall Prints

Fall is just right around the corner and as much as we hate to say goodbye to easy breezy summer dressing, we really don’t have a choice. Temperatures are about to drop so it’s a good idea to start getting your wardrobe ready for some bundling up as early as now, no matter how hot it may still be. If you’re already planning your wardrobe for fall, you may have noticed that you tend to gravitate towards darker colors and this tends to lead to dull and boring outfits. To keep your fall looks interesting, one thing you can do is to wear prints instead of just plain, solid dark colors. For those of you out there, who are already planning on doing some shopping for their fall wardrobes, check out these prints to wear for fall.

1. Stripes – to start off the list, we have stripes, which is the universal print. You can wear this print style all year round but if you want it to have a specific fall look, choose your stripe prints in warm, dark and earthy colors like black, brown, navy and plum on a white base. These are also one of the easiest print styles to mix and match with other prints in case you want to do a print on print outfit. 

2. Checkered – checkered prints like gingham, tartan and plaid are very popular for fall. Incorporating these prints into your outfit is one of the best and easiest ways to add tiny pops of color to keep your outfit lively. Some people are confused about the difference between gingham print, tartan print and plaid but it’s actually quite easy to differentiate one from the other once you know what to look for. 

3. Animal print – animal prints are fall and winter staples. They’re great if you want to stick to dark and neutral colors but still want to add a bit of texture and detail to your look. Animal prints are often used to give outfits a sexier look which really comes in handy during the colder seasons like fall and winter when you have to get all cozy and bundled up .

4. Dark floral print – for all the girly girls out there, who loves bright summer floral print, fret not. You don’t have to give up wearing pretty floral prints this fall but you might want to give it a bit more of a fall-ish look by going for dark floral print instead of bright ones. This is another great idea to bring more color into your fall wardrobe. 

5. Marble print – looking for a print that’s not too mainstream? How about rocking a few marble print pieces here and there? Marble print is simple and abstract. They work great when mixed and matched with other prints and they do well in giving your outfit a bit of a sophisticated touch.

Boho Wardrobe Must have

If there were any look that I’d be willing to rock for all the years in my life, it would be the Boho chic look. This particular look is so perfect because it’s so easy and organic. It’s light, it’s free flowing and it’s very forgiving as well. Boho is also the style of choice of many music festival goers, making the look a staple warm weather look. Here are some of the wardrobe must haves for a chic summer bohemian look.

1. Maxi skirts – maxi skirts are one of the essential pieces you should get your hands on if you’re building a Boho wardrobe that you’ll be using for the summer. They’re very feminine and chic and they’re so light so they’re great for summer. Wear them with anything from a simple tank top to a romantic lace shirt and you have yourself a minimalistic Boho look.

2. Peasant tops – whether you’re aiming for a full on Boho look or one that’s more modern, a peasant top is sure to come in handy. Peasant tops are very versatile. You can wear these with maxi skirts or on top of maxi dresses to get a more natural Boho look or you can pair them with jeans for a more modern Boho look. Try to get your hands on peasant tops with embroidered detailing on them. Embroidery always adds more to the Boho-ness of any piece. 

3. Flared jeans – the Boho look isn’t all about skirts and dresses. You can wear jeans, too, as mentioned above but not just any kind of jeans, though. Skinny jeans are a bit too contemporary for the Boho look so opt for flared ones instead. They’re quite flattering, too, so you should have no problem wearing them no matter what your body type is.

4. Flower crown – wearing a flower crown over your head when going for the Boho look may seem a little too cliché but it works like a charm every time. Since Boho is all about being free and natural, flowers make the best accessories to adorn your hair with. You can make your own out of either fresh or plastic flowers if you don’t want to spend too much on headpieces like these.

5. Sun hats – if you’re not into very girly accessories or the flower crown just doesn’t do it for you, you can replace it with a hat instead. Try to get as natural as possible by opting for woven straw hats and the like and reserve your bowler and fedora hats for other street style summer looks. If you’re planning on doing a modern Boho look, though, you can use them as well.
