Work Wardrobe

How do some women do it? They always look amazing at work. So fashionable, yet simple, while the rest of their wardrobe looks just as amazing. Seems impossible to get that look down. You’re struggling with your own work wardrobe, let alone the rest of your wardrobe. What’s a girl to do? Here’s one thing you can do: create a work uniform. No, I’m not talking plaid skirts and white blouses. I’m talking about getting a few different outfits and accessories down together for a fashionable work wardrobe that’s easy and simple to create. Check out my helpful tips below.

Choose A Color Palette- See? I told you this wasn’t your everyday uniform. Pick out a color palette that works best with the city’s climate that you work in. For example, business folks in Miami probably wear more colorful looks to work, while New Yorkers are prone to darker styles. Two to four colors should be enough.

Find 5 Shirts For The Week- Pick out five different shirts within your color palette. Choose enough for the workweek, maybe get a sixth one just in case.

Add The Rest Of Your Look- Add some extras, like pencil skirts and slacks. I would say that 5 bottoms should be enough. Get two dresses you can easily accessorize and two jackets, plus some shoes to match. You’re work uniform is almost complete!

Shoes, Purses and Accessories- Pick up some flats and kitten heels to match your color palette. Next, get two big purses to fit any papers that need to travel. After that, pick out your favorite work appropriate accessories and you’ve got up to 30 outfits that are perfect for work and sure to amazing your coworkers!

Wardrobe Staples for Woman over 30

Something happens when a woman hit’s the big 3-0. Her self esteem, confidence and self-assuredness begin to bloom in ways no one can really put into words but can certainly detect. And while these changes begin to take over every aspect of life, the way a women dresses is one of those details that shouldn’t be overlooked in the wake of personal progression. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to express who you are. So if your age begins with the number 3 (or even 4!), you should probably consider revamping your closet. After all, it’s the time to look more refined – it’s time to look the way you feel.  Let me help you look stylish with a touch of sass with these essential clothes for every 30-year-old’s wardrobe.
1. Cashmere Sweater – Sweaters are essential clothes for 30 year olds. But instead of the usual knits, go for finer styles, such as that of cashmere. Although simple, these stylish essentials look impeccable with the garments we will discuss next.

2. White Blaze - A black blazer is a must for all ages. But if you want unique clothes for 30 year olds, then make it a point to capitalize on a timeless white blazer. Not only is it suitable for work, it is a great addition for casual attires as well.

3. Sophisticated Trench Coat – If you want to look sophisticated, then make sure to invest in a stylish trench coat. This is one of the must-have clothes for 30-year-olds, as it can keep you warm and chic all at the same time.

4. Pencil Skirt – Clothes for 30-year-olds usually revolve around office wear. However, it doesn’t mean that you have to style boringly while at work. Look like a total office babe by sporting pencil skirts that accentuate your figure. While black is still best, a graphic one will work well for your age too!

5. Tailored Trousers – There’s no stopping you from showing your legs, but you have got to retire pencil skirts for a few days too. And when it’s time to do so, make sure to wear tailored trousers. It doesn’t matter how much the cost is, what’s important is the pants fit you nicely.

6. Printed Pants – While denim jeans are good clothes for 30-year-olds, you need to upgrade your look a little with printed pants. Such trousers are fashionably versatile, as you can wear them at work – and at weekend hangouts as well.

7. Sheath Dress – Super-short mini dresses might have looked fine when you were 20, but you need to look ‘more’ formal now that you are 30-something. Shine bright – even at your age – by growing your collection of sheath dresses. Indeed, these are very fashionable and versatile. You can wear one at work – and style it up for late-night drinks with friends.

Jewelry Styling Tips

A statement accessory or a few bangles here and there can greatly influence your look. Jewelry, whether real or fancy, can transform your casual outfit to a blog-worthy attire. Make the most out of the power of accessories with these styling tips:

CASUAL OUTFIT + STATEMENT NECKLACE = SCENE STEALER

A classic outfit, such as a white shirt and denim jeans, can look better with a statement necklace. While the classic silver and golden tones are safe choices, it is best if you broke all fashion convention with a bright necklace.

PRINTED ATTIRE + BOLD, COORDINATED JEWELRY = FASHION MAVEN

Accessories don’t only go with simple outfits, they go well with printed attires as well. Should you decide to wear printed garb, you can look better with a bold statement accessory. Whether it’s a bangle, necklace or big earrings, what is important is that it bears a color that is found in your get-up.

KEEP YOUR STACK COORDINATED

A bangle stack is one of the hottest accessorizing trends of today. Should you decide to try this, make sure that the bangles are color-coordinated. They need not necessarily be in the same color field, but they should have elements that tie them together with your outfit.

Mix Edgy with Sparkly

Sparkly and glitzy accessories are no longer just reserved for dressy occasions. In fact, you can wear them with your punk or rock chic looks as well. These flirty items can add the feminizing balance to your edgy, menswear-inspired attire.

Outfit Tricks

Winter dressing can be a little troublesome, with the layering and what not. Although this is the case, you can still make your outfit look more expensive – without purchasing high-fashion items.  To accomplish this, all you just need to do is follow these tips that can make your outfit look more sophisticated.

BELT YOUR COAT

A frumpy coat can keep you warm through the blizzards, but wearing it plainly can make you look more like a slob. Upgrade your look without wasting your hard-earned money just by belting your coat. Not only will it highlight your waist, it can add dimension to your simple coat as well.

DECORATE YOUR TURTLENECK

A turtleneck is a simple topper that can keep you warm during winter. Make this cold season attire look more fabulous by wearing a necklace over it.

Go Leather on Leather

Leather is one of the most luxurious fabrics ever. Look more expensive than ever by wearing your leather pants/leggings with leather boots. More than just sophistication, a leather-on-leather tandem can keep you warm for the entire day.

GO HEAVY WITH JACQUARD

Jacquard is an intricately woven fabric that is perfect for the winter. While it has a tinge of exclusiveness with it, you can achieve a finer look by choosing clothes made of heavy jacquard fabric. Avoid thinner jacquard types as they tend to look sloppy.

Choose a wool HAT

While you might love your beanie for the head warmth it provides, the truth of the matter is it gives off a ‘cheaper’ vibe. If you want to look more sophisticated, nix the beanie for a classier wool hat. It’s not as expensive, but it can make you feel like a thousand bucks. xo

Cardigan Styling Guide

Cardigans – considered fashion staples – come in numerous shapes and sizes. Lately, one that has taken the fashion center stage is the long cardigan. Because of its extended length, it affords more coverage – and flair! Take hold of this trend with these hot ways to style a long cardigan.

GO CLASSICAL WITH DENIMS

Denims look great with virtually anything, so it’s bound to look mod with a long cardigan. When styling a long cardigan, think about contrast. If you have a frilly, feminine cardi, then wear it with ‘boyish’ jeans, such as distressed denim or boyfriend pants.

Look Luxurious in leggins

If you are tired of the usual sweater and leggings look, then consider trading your top for a long cardigan. This stylish combination can make you look hot – even in this nail-biting weather.

GO LONG – AND SHORT

Fashion is all about contrast. So if you want to rock a long cardigan, then wear it with shorts. But since it is winter, make sure to hide your glamorous gams underneath thick tights or leggings. Still on the long and short of things, another great piece that looks stunning with a long cardigan is the mini skirt. This sexy item, like the shorts, adds contrast to your attire. Again, to keep your legs from freezing, wear tights or leggings underneath. The high and low of these items can create a style that’s worthy of a runway.

BE A DARLING IN A DRESS

There are so many dress styles out there, so there’s bound to be a cardigan-and-dress pairing that will suit your taste. Keeping true with the long and short tradition is a mini dress. Again, the long cardigan adds a creative layer, which is vital for the winter season. Another dress to wear with a long cardigan is a maxi dress. This flowy attire is not only for the spring and summer, it is meant for winter as well. Its long length covers your legs, so leave it to the long cardigan to cover your arms. Create a shapely silhouette by accessorizing with a waist-cinching belt. xo

Trendguide: Fluted Skirts

Fluted skirts are very versatile and they’re universally flattering as well. If you’re looking for a skirt that will give you a shapely silhouette or something that can balance out a rather robust curve then this is something that you should definitely consider adding to your wardrobe. The fluted skirt also goes by a lot of other names including the mermaid skirt, the trumpet skirt and the flared hem skirt. It can be worn to achieve lots of different looks from the 20s flapper look to a simple but flirty modern day look. If you’re thinking of getting your hands on one soon, check out these ideas on how to wear a fluted skirt for inspiration.
1. For the office – one really nice way to wear a fluted skirt is to wear it with either a dressy button up or a blazer and wear it to the office. The fluted skirt makes a really nice alternative to the usual pencil skirt and is perfect on days when you just want to look and feel a little bit more girly than usual and less formal and stuffy. Make sure to keep the rest of your outfit more structured to keep the look appropriate for the office instead of looking more casual.

2. With a chunky / heavy top – if you’re trying to achieve that slouchy yet chic look for fall, the fluted skirt is one of the best things that you can wear to get it. Wear a chunky / heavy top like a sweater or a cape and pair it up with your fluted skirt and you have yourself an easy, relaxed and laidback look that’s perfect for lazy days.

3. Back to basics – lastly, if you’re looking for a way to get the most bang for your buck from purchasing a fluted skirt, I would suggest getting a basic one in a fairly neutral color. This makes it easier for you to mix and match your fluted skirt with anything, no matter what color, style, cut or level of frilliness it may have.

Fall Trend: Midi Skirt Styling

A midi skirt is a top choice amongst women with gorgeous gams. But for some reason, the majority of ladies out there tend to stay away from this fashion staple. So before you completely say no to the midi skirt, know that you can rock them with the right style and attitude. (Read: it does not matter if you don’t have long model-esque legs.) These street style ways of wearing can make you look like a fashionista in no time.

Go Against the Flow

A great thing about the midi skirt is that it covers much of your legs (although it is not an excuse not to shave your legs.) Because of this style, a street-chic way to wear the midi skirt is to pair it with a sexy, form-fitting top. A simple tank top or tee can give you a timeless look – just make sure to tuck it in! What’s great about a simple top is it gives you the freedom to go gaga with accessories. Yes, it’s another reason to shop!

While midi skirts are reminiscent of spring and summer, you can wear them during spring and winter as well. Since sporting just form-fitting tops will transform you into an icicle, make sure to wear it with a curve-hugging outerwear. Midi skirts are known for their volume, so balance your bottoms with a shapely sweater or motorcycle jacket.

Jeans vs. Jeggings

Jeans have always been a closet staple for many of us, men and women alike, and because it’s so easy to style we tend to choose them over most bottoms we have in our closets. Recently, though, a new hybrid between jeans and leggings has come about and they’re called the jeggings. Jeggings are said to give you the best of both worlds by offering the look of jeans and the feel of leggings. If you’re someone who likes wearing both jeans and leggings all the time, the jeggings just might be right up your alley. If you like sticking to classic staples, though, maybe you’ll find that nothing compares to your favorite pair of jeans. So, jeggings vs. jeans: how do you choose what’s perfect for you? Take a look at these points to consider if you’re torn between jeans and jeggings.

Fall Trends To Master Now

I know a lot of you are probably busy trying to stretch summer as far out as you possibly can and while I myself would love for summer to never end, we all know there’s nothing we can do about it. You can keep wearing summer clothes for as long as you can (I do that, too) but don’t forget to start scouring sources for the latest up and coming trends for fall, too, so you’re not caught off guard when the temps drop. To get you started, here are some of fall’s biggest trends to start mastering now.
Sporty look – to all the girls out there who often find themselves reaching for something sweet and feminine, this would make a refreshing change. Wearing something sporty will give you a subtle hint of the tomboy style. If you want your outfit to still lean more towards the girly side, wearing an athletic piece in a nice and bright color will help heaps. A varsity jacket, for example, can still look girly when worn in a striking color like red and along with heels and a girly dress.

Animal prints – animal prints have always been hot for fall but this year, it’s everything so make sure you’re well stocked up! Don’t shy away from animal prints. I know they can look a bit overwhelming at times but the key, really, is to keep a good balance going in your outfit. When wearing animal prints, make sure to choose the classy and grown up print styles. Pink zebra print? Leave that in your niece’s bedroom, please. Go for what looks realistic and then keep the rest of your outfit simple and neutral.

Suits – no, not the TV series but rather suit outfits – pant suits, skirt suits, even shorts suits. Thanks to Cara Delevingne and all other celebrities ditching their evening gowns and red carpet dresses for sexy suits, these are now totally happening. Choose a suit that’s not too tailored and boxy if you want to keep your look soft and feminine. If you’re going for a rather tomboyish look, on the other hand, go ahead and get the tailored suits.
