With spring officially here it’s time to make sure you have everything you need to get your wardrobe ready from head to toe. If you’re done shopping for clothes and accessories for spring and you think you’re good, think again! If you haven’t already shopped for shoes then you haven’t completed your shopping mission just yet. Here are some of the hottest spring shoe trends you’ll love to shop for.

PLATFORMS – Platform shoes are going to be one of spring’s hottest shoe trends and that’s good news for all the short and petite ladies out there who just can’t take another season with their feet stuck in painful heels. Platforms offer better support and stability compared to regular heels so they’re easier to walk in and they’re less painful on the feet as well.

LACE UPS – Looks like ballerina-style flats are going to take a break for a while this spring because one hot trend that will come about is the lace up shoe trend which means that we’ll be putting out shoelace tying skills to the test yet again. This season’s lace ups are not like your typical lace up school shoes, though. Instead, they’re like pumps with a twist, and a very complicated but totally chic and stylish one at that!

METALLICS – Metallic shoes are another one of the newest shoe trends for spring this year and a pair of these is the perfect way to add a subtle hint of shimmer and shine to any daytime look if you’re one of those people who don’t like too much sparkles during the day and would rather reserve them for the night.

BROGUES – Brogues are the perfect shoes for nailing the ‘borrowed from the boys’ trend which is a big fashion trend for spring this year. Basic brogues, though versatile and classic, can be a bit boring for the fashion-forward stylista so we’re expecting brogues with a twist and we’re really excited.

TIME FOR GETTING READY FOR A SPRING WARDROBE

With spring just a few more days away, I’m pretty sure a lot of you ladies out there are already searching up the new trends for the coming season to make sure that your closet is filled with pieces that are guaranteed to give you only the most fabulous looks. Before you get into that, though, you need to make sure your wardrobe is ready to transition from winter to spring first. If you’re already planning on transitioning early, check out these tips on how to start getting ready for a spring wardrobe.

START STASHING AWAY THE HEAVY PIECES – the earlier days of spring are going to be cold but not as cold as winter which means you’ll be needing thick, heavy and chunky pieces in your wardrobe. Get rid of most of the heavy pieces in your closet and keep only those that you’ve recently worn, preferably the really versatile ones that will let you last a few couple more cold winter weeks.

SLOWLY GET RID OF YOUR WINTER ACCESSORIES – once spring comes, you won’t be needing those gloves anymore and that chunky knit scarf isn’t going to be as useful either. And those snow boots? Soon, they’ll be nothing but ‘too warm’ for your spring-giddy legs. Slowly get rid of the winter accessories that have taken over your closet to make way for the new spring accessories you’re about to load it up with.

KEEP CORE ESSENTIALS – don’t be too quick to discard of everything in your winter wardrobe, though. There are pieces that can be worn all year round and these are called the core essentials or the ‘basics’. These will stay in your closet for as long as they’re wearable so make sure you’re well-stocked up on these. Core essentials include jeans, plain shirts and special occasion dresses among other things.

TAKE IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO PURGE – how often do you really go through your stuff to see which ones are still good, which ones are still usable and which ones aren’t? Not as often as you should, I bet. If you think you have too many clothes in your closet (and you probably do), take this transition from winter to spring as an opportunity to do a closet purge. Really take the time to take everything out and toss them into keep, toss and donate bins.

LAYER USING SPRING ESSENTIALS – now is the perfect time to start re-introducing your spring staples to your closet and using them with many of your looks. How do you pull off wearing spring wear in winter, you ask? It’s easy! Just use them to create layers in your outfit.

START WEARING MORE COLORS – the usual winter wardrobe is filled with dark, dull and muted colors and one great way to get your wardrobe ready for spring is to start adding more colorful pieces and start wearing more fun prints.

Tropical Winter Holiday - what to pack ?

If you are one of the fortunate few who have managed to book a tropical vacation for this winter, then good for you! You can finally have a fashion break from those bulky blazers, chunky coats and woolen warmers.

Although you might have managed to escape to the tropics, you should never leave your sense of fashion behind. Get the resort chic look by taking these must-have pieces to your fashion destination.

FORM-FITTING SWIMSUIT

What’s a tropical vacation without some fun under the sun? Make sure to bring the best swimsuit that complements your figure and body shape.

COVER UP

If you want to look resort chic, then make sure to bring a unique cover up. This will keep you stylish and clothed in between your swimming sessions.

MAXI DRESS

The maxi dress is one of the most convertible pieces for a resort chic look. You can wear it at daytime as you stroll along the beach, and you can wear it at nighttime for a romantic dinner or after-party drinks.

MINI DRESS

If maxi dresses are too long or conservative for you, then make it a point to show your legs in a cute mini dress. Like the maxi dress, you can take this apparel from day to night.

AN ARSENAL OF COLORFUL TOPS

If you are planning on a long vacation, then make sure to bring an array of colorful, light fabric tops. Bright, pastel-colored or tie-dyed ones are perfect for beach frolicking, while a chambray button-down is important for dressier events.

SHORTS

Achieve a resort chic look without going over the baggage limit by bringing light and colorful shorts. Heavy denim shorts should be at the bottom of your list, especially if you don’t have check-in baggage.

BRIGHT OR PRINTED PANTS

Maintain your sunny disposition at formal events by pairing your cute dressy top with light and bright (or printed) pants.

SANDALS

Sashay the beach in style with easy-to-wear sandals. For the added height, choose comfy platform sandals.

SCARF

A versatile piece of resort chic wear, a scarf can shield you from the scorching sun. It can also work as a cover up, as well as a statement accessory.

WINTER COATS

Even though the holidays have passed and spring is on our mind, we have to face that the cold weather isn’t going anywhere just yet.
