Celebrating your winter wedding abroad can be a great and unique experience especially if you come from a region where you do not see snow flakes falling during the winter time and would have wished to benefit from snow settling on the slopes where you could slide down carried away in a sleigh. Now, with the occasion of your wedding festivity your wish can come true and have your special day organized in on e of those regions that snow is present in its full rights for more than 3 months a year.

Set in the gorgeous Arctic town of Jukkasjarvi, the extraordinary Ice Hotel is made entirely from ice and contains a glacial church of almost impossible beauty, perfect for tying the knot. Year-round snow adds to this unforgettable venue’s appeal, and the hotel is re-built from scratch every year – so you know your wedding will be truly unique!

TO MIX DIFFERENT TEXTURES

Even though my wardrobe has a distinctly feminine style, sometimes I love to venture outside of my comfort zone and thrown in the unpredictable pieces–like a bit of pleather mixed with my favorite lace top or classic pleats paired with a chambray shirt. Combining textures within one outfit is an easy way to maximize your wardrobe and add a little spice to your personal style, but if you haven’t yet experimented with it ....

LACE & DENIM :

A closet staple for every woman should be a denim jacket or a denim jeans. While you may be tempted to pair your jacket with a classic flannel or white jeans, combining denim with lace is another option for dressing up an all-American must-have. The dusty pink of the lace skirt perfectly complements the rustic appearance of this jacket style and, ultimately, boosts this look to another level of sophistication.

LEATHER

As a self-proclaimed girly-girl, I never understood the attraction of leather looks until recently. A couple of months ago I purchased my first pleather-accented top and it has become one of my absolute favorites! Realistically, you won’t find me wearing studs, biker boots, or a full-on leather jacket anytime soon, but I’ve grown accustomed to the look of leather mixed with my feminine pieces. This rose jacquard full skirt paired with a chic leather top will strike the perfect balance of femininity and edge.

What are some of your favorite texture combinations? Sound off in the comment section, I can’t wait to get more ideas!! xo

DATE OUTFITS INSPIRATION

f first impressions are everything, there’s definitely something to be said about the amount of time and effort women put into creating the perfect first date ensemble. To save yourself the time spent staring into your closet, take a cue from the following outfit inspirations to make your first date one for the record books.

Maybe your date has an exciting night of dancing, drinks, and socializing in mind. With this type of evening ahead, feel free to have a little fun with your outfit. Pair a demure crop top with a pleather A-line skirt for an alluring yet edgy look. Make sure to take a bag with a shoulder strap so that your hands are free for dancing and the possibility of hand holding, of course. This outfit is sure to grab attention, so be confident in wearing more neutral makeup (like nude/rosy lipstick), in order to let the rest of your look shine.

You’re an adventure-seeker and your date seems to be, too? If you’re pretty sure that the night could lead to laps around a go-kart track or at the end of a bowling lane. This outfit is for you. Having a casual first date doesn’t mean you should’t put your best foot forward. Of course, comfort is key, otherwise you’ll be worried about your outfit rather than focusing on the activity. A bold striped shirt is always a great go-to and, let’s be honest, guys always love a girl in a great pair of fitted jeans. Add a swipe of enticing deep red lipstick and he won’t be able to help but fall under your spell!

There’s something so serene about the glow of candles, but throw in the potential of romance and it becomes all the better. If your first date happens to be a romantic dinner for two, consider dressing in a bold color that will truly stand out against the all-flattering candlelight. With such a bold hue, nude or neutral accessories will add the perfect accents. Swipe on a shade of baby pink gloss and you’re almost guaranteed a kiss by the end of the night. xo

Sport: Later In Life

Did you know that there’s research  out there proving that when you take up exercise later in life, you are three times more likely to stay healthy than those in your same age bracket who are inactive? That’s a pretty incredible statistic, don’t you think? And, one that should certainly inspire many of you to dig out the old sneakers and get moving. But what if you still have no desire to hit the gym and stare at the numbers on a treadmill? Perhaps it’s time to take up a new sport. From racquetball to golf, there are so many great sports to take up later in life that are fun, social and get the muscles working and the heart pumping.

Tennis – This is a great sport to take up with a friend or significant other as practicing together can be a total blast. Tennis is one of the best sports to learn later in life with a tennis coach, in a local league or simply on your own. Burning between 500 & 700 calories an hour, this is a great option for getting healthy.
Swimming – There’s a whole host of options when it comes to swimming, from the local YMCA to the beach outside your front door; swimming is a great, go-at-your-own pace sport. This is a fantastic option for anyone who loves the peace and quiet of the early morning (a great time for lap swimming) or if you’re interested in joining a weeknight swimming league. It doesn’t hurt to know that you will burning around 500 calories an hour.
Rowing Crew – Excellent for someone who loves a team sport, but also wants to focus on individual fitness goals, joining a summer crew team is a fun and challenging option. Depending on your style, there are lots of options for competitive rowing and you’ll probably meet some new friends, too. You could even burn around 900 calories an hour, depending how hard you push it.
Golf – Now this one can be a bit more intimidating for anyone who has never picked up a club, but here’s the best part: there are tons of lessons out there! Take a few golf lessons and join a beginner golf league and you’ll be hitting the green like an old pro in no time. You’ll have a blast while you’re at it. If you carry that golf bag and walk the course, you can burn a solid 500 calories golfing.

Have you picked up a new sport recently? How has it working out?

The blogosphere may be overrun with 20-something year olds, discovering their sense of style and sharing their view on the world, but there’s a bigger picture to the online world that deserves a closer look. The over 40 crowd has a brilliant selection of fashion bloggers who not only cover their personal style but include life anecdotes about their families that are totally relatable to women all ages. Take a look at this list of fashion bloggers over 40 you should be following:

Not dressed as Lamb

This British beauty isn’t afraid of color by any means and she certainly doesn’t look her age. Catherine is a fun loving girl who never fails to look beautiful and confident in everything she wears. If you’re a bit trendy and like to take risks, take inspiration from this one, gals!
Une Femme

I love a blog where you can get lost looking through old posts – Une Femme is exactly that blog. She offers excellent advice on how to pack when traveling (which she does quite a bit), and shows off her elegant, minimalistic style. Her musings on “French chic” are simply darling. Cheaper always better ?

Cheaper isn’t always better. Sometimes going the cheap route will cost you more in the long run. Take my advice, sometimes it’s better to splurge on the things that count to avoid having to replace them or get them fixed. You know the saying, “You get what you pay for.” Get it right the first time around and save yourself some cash.

  1. Shoes – Most of us are on our feet all day and a cheaply made pair of shoes just isn’t going to cut it. Spend more to have a good, comfortable pair that will outlast its cheaper counterpart. The last thing you want to do is torture your feet with a badly made pair. You’ll only toss them and have to replace them for something better.
  2. Handbags – With handbags, you’re looking for good craftsmanship, sturdy hardware, and durable leather or vegan leather. You don’t have to spend huge amounts of money on a big designer name to get these long-lasting qualities. But you do have to pay more for quality, most of the time. Spending a little more on a handbag will ensure it survives the wear and tear from lugging it through work, happy hours, shopping, nights out, weekend trips, and kids. It’ll pay itself off.
  3. Shapewear – We all need a little help with this — what you wear underneath your clothes is just as important as what’s on the outside. Without proper shapewear (shorts, bras, bodysuit, etc.), your outfit will lack the smooth lines it needs to fit properly. Don’t splurge on a beautiful dress only to skimp on the proper shapewear to make it look flawless.
  4. Skincare – What you put on your face every morning and night should be made from the best ingredients. Don’t skimp on skincare that will irritate your skin and cost you more in the long run. Find a solution that you’ll wear every day and make sure it’s something you feel good in, whether under makeup or fresh-faced.
  5. Hair Treatments – A bargain haircut may seem like a good idea at the time but you’ll most likely end up having to pay more money to fix the mistakes someone else makes. Same goes for hair color. If you treat your hair to any processing, make sure it’s not going to cost you in split ends and frayed locks.
  6. Earrings – A good pair of stud earrings is something you’ll wear day in and day out. A classic pair will last you a long time and outlast all kinds of trends. Spend a little money on something that won’t tarnish or break easily. You’ll find yourself living in these

Honeymoon for any budget

So your big day is coming up; the ceremony is all planned, the flowers and décor are picked out and your dress is simply breathtaking. But have you put equally as much thought into the vacation post the wedding? Now is the time to focus on what could be considered as the best part of the wedding, the honeymoon. While weddings are an exciting time all on their own, the vacation that follows is meant to give you the time to relax and enjoy one another. For most, this is the vacation of a lifetime and one that is both romantic and fun. So don’t leave anything to chance when it comes to your honeymoon and regardless of you budget find the designation that right is for you. Here are my favorites, happy planning! If you’re thinking of visiting Greece for your honeymoon, you will not be disappointed. With gorgeous stylish resorts, stunning hillside architecture, incredible food and absolutely beautiful beaches, Greece is an obvious choice and one that can be done on many different budgets.

Are you planning your honeymoon right now? Have any of these swayed your decision? I am here !!! xo

SPRING HAIR INSPIRATIONS : BRAID

While finding new and fun ideas for hairstyles is one of my favorite pastimes, who can really resist a fabulous braid? In fact, I could spend hours checking out all the great  braid ideas  out there! Adding some unexpected glam and a touch of whimsy, a great braid can be dressed up or remain totally casual, while also working well with many different hair lengths. Here are a few of my favorite braid ideas that I am digging right now:

For a way to get the hair out of your face try braiding your bangs as seen on Heidi Klum in French Elle.

A little more complex, but so cool! Check out the heart braid, great for a night out or a picnic in the park.

Loving this messy, side sweep braid from Blake Lively.

So, has this inspired you to try out a new braid? xo

FINDING THE PERFECT WEDDING DRESS

Finally, your guy (or gal!) has popped the question and you’re getting ready to plan the wedding of your dreams. Whether you’re on a tight budget or the money is no object, there’s one thing that’s on every bride’s mind: finding the perfect wedding dress. From totally glam to bohemian chic, whatever your style or body type, the perfect wedding dress is out there, it’s all a matter of knowing what to look for. But before you get too caught up in the planning, take some time for yourself (this is your day, after all!) to find the perfect dress that makes you feel like a queen.

  • Know your budget and stick to it. Having a good grasp on your budget is half the battle when shopping for a wedding dress. The cost of dresses is so vast, it’s easy to get caught up and fall in love with something you absolutely cannot afford. Know and understand your financial limitations.
  • Know your body type. Are you more pear shaped and curvy or tall and super thin? Different dress styles work better with different body shapes, just like jeans and swim suits. Finding the silhouette that makes the most of your shape is the first step to finding the dress of your dreams. Maybe go a-line with a full skirt if you’re heavier on the bottom or try a simple silk sheath if you’re long and narrow. Find what works best for you.
  • Don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because you don’t love it on the hanger, doesn’t mean you won’t love it when you put it on. Try on as many dresses as you want – the dress of your dreams may not look like much when it’s hanging on a rack, but may surprise you once you have it on. Same goes for colors and fabrics. Dresses take on new life once they’re on your body – so go for it and think outside the box.
  • Have a friend or family member take photos of you while you’re trying on dresses. Going back later and seeing yourself in photos will help give you the perfect image of how you look in each dress. Sometimes it can be tough to get the whole picture just by looking in the mirror.
  • Don’t worry about trends. Think about the long term look of your wedding gown – you’re going to be looking at those photos for many, many years. Sticking to something classic and timeless will mean no regrets about the style twenty years down the road.
Are you currently on the hunt for the wedding dress of your dreams? What’s your favorite place for wedding dress inspiration? xo

APP YOUR BRA SIZE

Did you know that you are supposed to get rid of your old bras every 8 months? This may not be common knowledge and neither is the fact that most women are guilty of wearing the wrong size bra to begin with. Imagine all the discomfort! In tune of 80 percent of us are guilty of this.

Apparently the problem has now been solved. There’s a little app called  Thirdlove.  It enables women to measure their dimensions in the privacy of their own home using two iPhone selfies. I know how much we love those.
Will you be trying this new technology or are you an old fashion kind of shopper? xo
