Travel outfit ideas

Summertime is a great time for travel! While packing for a trip, I sometimes struggle with what to take. Travel style is such a complex situation because there are no expectations while vacationing. As much as you plan and strategize your trip, things can always change, so it becomes difficult to plan outfits for everyday. The best thing you can do is pick out neutrals, or separates that match with other separates. If I have a shirt or a skirt that I can only wear in one outfit, it stays home. That’s just the way it works. To help inspire you while you’re trying to pack for your next vacation or trip, check out these looks below. I think they’re perfect for travel! What do you think?

All Black Everything- When models are asked about their packing habits, their number one piece of advice is to pack lots of black separates. Since they’re always off to some different location, they know black is the perfect go-to that matches with almost everything. If you’re need of some all-black inspiration, take some tips from the fashionable babe below. A black outfit doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom.

Comfortable Yet Chic- Kendall Jenner does a lot of traveling these days, so I’d definitely take some looks from her wardrobe. Here, she’s in her best airplane-ready outfit. Wear a big scarf and skinny jeans like Kendall and you’ll be ready for airplane travel, no matter your destination.

Laid Back- If you’re going on a beach vacation, or somewhere warm, then I would take some styling tips from the Panama hat-wearing girl below. She looks comfortable, cool and laidback. I love her maxi skirt. I think this look would be perfect for a sunny outdoor lunch.

Travel Tips

Are you headed out on your to MAIC? Or are you simply an experienced traveler going somewhere new this season? No matter what type of traveler you are – from luxury all the way to a total road tripper – everyone can use a few tips. Whether you’re headed out on an overnighter at the beach or you’re off on a more extensive global adventure, when it comes to traveling – it’s key to have a few tricks up your sleeve. Ready to learn a thing or two? Here are a few tips every experienced traveler knows.

1. Always travel with an emergency stash of cash. You never know what can happen – no matter where you are. So, having a secret stash of cash means you’ll have a few bucks even if you lose your wallet or have something stolen from you. Keep the cash in a separate spot from your wallet – like a hidden pocket in your suitcase or in envelope in the back of your iPad case. Get creative!
2. Know how to say no (politely, of course!). Sounds so simple, right? When traveling, it’s easy to get sold on things, experiences or even into going places that you don’t want to. Whether it’s a stranger haggling with you or it’s your travel buddy trying to talk you into doing something you don’t want to, saying no is important so that you have the experience you want without feeling pressured. It’s your trip, after all!
3. How to pack smart. There’s a fine line between over-packing, under-packing and knowing how to pack so that you have just what you need. Go for items that can be layered and used to do double duty – like a dress that can double as both a swimsuit cover up and a casual look for happy hour. When traveling for business, pack items that can be easily mixed and matched to create multiple looks for business meetings and dinners.
4. Meet the locals! There’s nothing better when it comes to traveling than getting the local experience – so get out there and meet people. From the best places to eat, to the local watering hole and all the coolest sights, locals know best – so don’t be shy.
5. Dress for success when it comes to travel day. Getting through the airline security line can be such a hassle – so prepare yourself. Dress in layers so that you can easily slip things off and into your carry-on while you go through the line. Go for shoes that slip easily on and off and make sure you’re prepared with airline approved size toiletries.
6. Have everything you need (and a little extra) in your carry-on. From reading material to charging cords and all your favorite devices to your makeup and other cosmetic essentials – a carry-on is like a gold mine of all your favorite things. Be sure to have everything that will keep you feeling good and entertained – even if you have travel delays or long travel days. While you’re at, throw in an extra change of clothes – just in case your luggage gets lost.

Are you a frequent traveler? What are some tips you’ve picked up along the way?

Keep traveling

Reasons to Travel Alone

Having the chance to do a little globetrotting is such an awesome opportunity to see the world and get a better understanding of different cultures. While most of us do our traveling with friends and family in tow, the chance to travel alone can be incredibly rewarding. Have you ever thought about packing a bag and just heading out on a solo adventure? A lot like tackling those new and somewhat intimidating opportunities that come your way, the idea of traveling alone can feel pretty daunting – but once you try it, you’ll probably love it. From getting to do everything your own way to meeting a heap of new friends, here’s a roundup of a few reasons to travel alone and where to go on your first solo journey.

Traveling alone can be incredibly empowering. It may be scary at first, but once you get in that mindset of total travel groove, you feel like a million bucks. You’re adventuring and discovering all on your own – with no worries of what anyone else wants to do or see. You got this! When you first head out – try a solo road trip or something in your home country where you know the language and you feel comfortable. Perhaps a tour of a few National Parks or hit up a big, bustling city like Manhattan.

You get out of your dependency routine. Traveling alone means it’s all you. You make the decisions and you solve the problems – no matter what comes your way. You get to decide what and when you want to eat, drink and sleep – and there’s nothing that feels more independent than that. It’s freeing and completely empowering. In our day-to-day, we often check in with our family or significant other to see what they want or need – traveling alone means you have the reigns of the whole journey. Head to Europe – perhaps to a favorite city like London or Paris – to get a bit outside your comfort zone, but still be part of a bustling metropolis.

You’ll make new friends. At some point or another in your solo travels you’ll cross paths with other travelers heading out on their own and you’ll be drawn to one another to hang out and chat. You’ll probably meet some pretty interesting characters along the way and you’ll keep those memories (and maybe even those friendships) for years to come. Putting yourself out there is part of the solo travel process that makes it both fun and a bit of a challenge – but the rewards are pretty awesome. Want a super adventure where you can still speak the language? Head to Auckland, New Zealand for a mix of both outdoor adventures and a safe city by the sea – loaded with travelers.

You’ll have to time reflect on your life, your goals and maybe even make sense and find some answers to questions you have. Spending time alone can be an incredible opportunity to face some big decisions or even just make heads or tails of what you want to do next and figure out where your priorities are. Whether you’re thinking it’s time for a career change or you’re making some big relationship decisions, alone time is often what you need to find the answer. If you’re thinking self-reflection is an important piece to this adventure, head to Bali for a spiritual and peaceful trip, where you’re sure to cross paths with loads of other solo travelers.

What do you think? Could you handle traveling solo?
