Beauty Trends to Look Forward To in 2016

Is anyone else as shocked that another year is arriving so quickly? With time flying by, it’s tough to take a moment to simply take it all in – so we’re just going for it and moving along full speed ahead! One of my favorite parts of a New Year? ….the up and coming beauty trends, of course! Whether it’s hair, makeup or nail treatments, beauty trends are always changing and evolving – and, 2016 is no different. Not sure what to expect? Here’s a look at some beauty trends to look forward to in 2016

Next level French manicure - Go ahead and get creative with this. New nails for a new year.

Styled pony tails  will be big in 2016. From twists to braids it’s an easy, effortless look.

Bobs and bangs ... to try !

Blue eyes only ... Yes, simple streaks of blue shadow and liner are making an appearance in a big way.

Glitter - Yes, really. An otherwise neutral face with touches of sparkling glitter….does it get any more glam than that?

Online Shopping On A Budget

It’s easy to get caught up while Internet shopping. You see a pair of shoes you like, add it to your shopping cart, and then checkout in a blink of an eye. You don’t feel any buyer’s remorse until you look at your bank statement. Yikes! Sometimes, shopping online is all too easy, which is why you need to find some affordable websites that your closet AND your wallet can appreciate. Below is a list of some of my personal favorites where you will find lots of looks for less! Have you used these websites? What do you think?

www.Asos.com  ASOS - This UK based website has all the top styles at super affordable prices. I love Asos for finding dresses and skirts that are good quality, yet super trendy and chic.

Forever21  isn’t known for it’s quality, but you can find inexpensive styles here that are fun and easy to wear. I love their basics section. You can find simple crop tops, tank tops and skater skirts at decent prices.

www.UrbanOutfitters.com Urban Outfitters  Sometimes Urban Outfitters has some astronomical prices ($70 for a crop top? No thank you!), yet their sale section is stellar. You can find great accessories for decent prices on the website as well. Plus, there are plenty of items online that you can’t get in the store!

www.Shop.com  Shop.com I can attest that Shop has some of the best prices out there. You can find literally anything you need on the site. Head on over to the website and check out for yourself. You won’t be sorry!

www.NastyGal.com Nasty Gal is another e-commerce site known for it’s amazing sale section! I love combing through and finding unique yet trendy looks that I can’t find elsewhere. They really focus on a brand style and it works for them (and for my budget!).

Travel Tips

Are you headed out on your to MAIC? Or are you simply an experienced traveler going somewhere new this season? No matter what type of traveler you are – from luxury all the way to a total road tripper – everyone can use a few tips. Whether you’re headed out on an overnighter at the beach or you’re off on a more extensive global adventure, when it comes to traveling – it’s key to have a few tricks up your sleeve. Ready to learn a thing or two? Here are a few tips every experienced traveler knows.

1. Always travel with an emergency stash of cash. You never know what can happen – no matter where you are. So, having a secret stash of cash means you’ll have a few bucks even if you lose your wallet or have something stolen from you. Keep the cash in a separate spot from your wallet – like a hidden pocket in your suitcase or in envelope in the back of your iPad case. Get creative!
2. Know how to say no (politely, of course!). Sounds so simple, right? When traveling, it’s easy to get sold on things, experiences or even into going places that you don’t want to. Whether it’s a stranger haggling with you or it’s your travel buddy trying to talk you into doing something you don’t want to, saying no is important so that you have the experience you want without feeling pressured. It’s your trip, after all!
3. How to pack smart. There’s a fine line between over-packing, under-packing and knowing how to pack so that you have just what you need. Go for items that can be layered and used to do double duty – like a dress that can double as both a swimsuit cover up and a casual look for happy hour. When traveling for business, pack items that can be easily mixed and matched to create multiple looks for business meetings and dinners.
4. Meet the locals! There’s nothing better when it comes to traveling than getting the local experience – so get out there and meet people. From the best places to eat, to the local watering hole and all the coolest sights, locals know best – so don’t be shy.
5. Dress for success when it comes to travel day. Getting through the airline security line can be such a hassle – so prepare yourself. Dress in layers so that you can easily slip things off and into your carry-on while you go through the line. Go for shoes that slip easily on and off and make sure you’re prepared with airline approved size toiletries.
6. Have everything you need (and a little extra) in your carry-on. From reading material to charging cords and all your favorite devices to your makeup and other cosmetic essentials – a carry-on is like a gold mine of all your favorite things. Be sure to have everything that will keep you feeling good and entertained – even if you have travel delays or long travel days. While you’re at, throw in an extra change of clothes – just in case your luggage gets lost.

Are you a frequent traveler? What are some tips you’ve picked up along the way?

Nur Mut also liebe Männer!

Fashion Mistakes That Instantly Age You

Aging ourselves prematurely is not typically something we’re after. But looking youthful and vibrant without looking too young is – right? No matter what your age, your fashion choices can (and should!) elevate your sense of style, complement your features and make you feel great. And, knowing how you can look your best when it comes to fashion selections will help you easily elevate your appearance without dragging you down. While we’re all trying to look our best, sometimes bad fashion choices happen even to the savviest shopper. Anything from the wrong fit, to an ill-timed look or a color or pattern that’s just off can age you when you least expect it. Not sure how to keep it all in check? Here’s a look at fashion mistakes to avoid.

Going overboard with trend-setting pieces. We all want to be part of the latest trends, but sometimes making trendy your main goal can backfire. Don’t forget that classic and timeless pieces have a place in everyone’s closet – and, they’re known for making you look and feel your absolute best. Whether you’re investing in a signature piece for a black tie event or you’re filling your wardrobe with staples, classic lines and simple styles often work in your favor.

Keeping pieces for too long. We all get attached to things – even our clothes. They hold a dear memory from a special time in life or an unforgettable evening – but often they become out of date, worn or the fit is off as your body changes with time. Remember to rotate your closet every six months or so to purge items that haven’t been worn in recent time. Here’s a good rule of thumb: if you haven’t worn it in more than a year, it’s got to go.

Going for the wrong fit. Clothing items that are either too small or too loose can throw off your entire look. When a piece is too tight, it typically accentuates your trouble spots and conversely, when a piece is too big, it doesn’t accentuate your best features. Always strive for the perfect fit – not too tight, not too loose – you’ll feel great and look good too.

Wearing your daughter’s clothes. Even if you feel like breaking into your daughter’s closet will make you look and feel younger – it won’t. Age appropriate clothing actually complements your features and helps you present yourself in that classic and timeless way. No matter how much you’re tempted to dress too young – stop yourself and assess the situation. Be proud of your age and your beauty – and embrace it too.

Do you find yourself making fashion selections that seem to age you? Which mistake are you guilty of?
