Happy New Year 2017

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're doing something.

Healthy Friendship

When it comes down to it, your friends are often just as important as family. In many cases, your friends become your family – while the relationships may not be exactly the same, they’re often the closest people in your life. Your friends are your utmost confidants – you have conversations spanning everything from work and daily life to your most intimate thoughts on love. Despite all the good times, just like any relationship – friendships take work. From your besties to your newest friends, keep reading for the must-have qualities of any healthy friendship.

  1. You challenge one-another. While it is pretty nice when your best gal-pal showers you in compliments, it’s best when there’s a healthy balance of telling you how wonderful you are and challenging you to be even better.
  2. Neither friend in the relationship is afraid to speak up when someone is wrong. Giving one another constructive feedback is a healthy, good practice – it keeps you honest after all! The best policy is openness, always.
  3. You’re both great listeners and great talkers. Sharing is one of the best parts of a solid friendship and that means listening when you’re needed and speaking up when you need a listening ear.
  4. You’re able to help keep one another’s stress under control. A good friend knows when someone isn’t acting like him or herself – and all too often that’s a sign of stress. Helping to stop that stress before it gets out of hand is the sign of a truly committed friend.
  5. They are your biggest fan and always have your back. Sometimes you just really need that person in your corner and that means standing up for you when you need it – even if it’s not the easiest situation.
  6. You’re both able to forgive. Friends are going to have their moments of tension – just like any loving relationship – and being able to forgive and move forward is absolutely essential for growing together.
  7. Your friendship means the world to both of you. Whether or not you’re able to see one another all the time or just once-in-a-while, when a friendship takes priority, it feels good.
  8. You’re accepting of one another even when you don’t have the same opinions. Just because you’re friends doesn’t mean you have to agree 100% of the time, but you do have to understand and support where the other person is coming from.
  9. Above all else: you love each other and have a blast together.
What are the best parts of your most cherished friendships? xo

Gifts Inspiration for Fashionable Friends

While getting what you want is definitely going to anyone’s Christmas merrier, I think we can all agree that giving is something that makes us feel just as good, too. I personally have started to think about and list down the things that I want to give my family and my friends so I can go buy them once the list is complete. Right now, I’m completing the list for my girl friends, most of whom are obsessed with fashion, so I thought I’d share with you what I found that I thought any fashion lover would lover. Check out our Christmas Gift Guide 2014 for fashionable finds for your style-loving friends.
  • A COMFY SWEATER – Christmas sweaters are cute and all but you’ll want to give your friends something that they can wear even after Christmas has gone. A cute and comfy sweater is something that I know a lot of women will appreciate so if you’re looking for something to give to a friend, scour the stores for a cute and comfy sweater.

  • BOOTS – know someone who goes crazy over shoes? Why not help them build their collection and give them a pair of gorgeous boots for Christmas? Over the knee boots are quickly becoming the latest trend in fashion so get one for your friend who loves to make a statement. Or maybe go for a pair of ankle boots so she can wear them all year round.

  • JEWELRY – if you have a friend who loves to dress up all the time, I’m sure they’ll appreciate receiving some new accessories, especially jewelry as these tend to really take any outfit up a notch. Of course, you’ll want to match the jewelry you give to your friends’ personalities.

Swim Suit For Your Body Type

Summer, in so many ways, is the best time of the year. Beach days and bbq’s, boating and long days with friends are all things we can look forward to. But finding a swim suit that is both flattering and stylish is not easy feat. From not feeling totally comfortable to wearing a suit that simply doesn’t fit well, securing the perfect suit for your body type this summer is absolutely essential! Take a look at these tips for putting the fun back into summer with a swimsuit you can feel good about.

  • If a big bust  prevents you from finding the swimsuit of your dreams, keep this in mind: halter tops and racer backs are your best friends. They offer lift and coverage without giving you too much coverage. If you are top-heavy, wear prints on your smallest body part of your body to draw visual attention away from where you are bigger and wear sold colors where you are bigger.
  • For anyone out there who’s blessed with a bigger bottom, find suits that bring the eyes up and take attention away from your problem area. Choose suits with a nice balance which may mean less coverage up top or by going with a brighter, more busy top.
  • If you’re more of a full-figured gal, go ahead and show off your favorite assets with a plunging neckline. Go modest on other areas with a one-piece suit that hugs your frame and complements your shape. A bold print and ruching can help draw attention away from problem areas. But dark solids are also very slimming.
  • If you’re petite, you own it to yourself to go bold. Choose a bright color suit that helps your small frame stand out. Look for solid, sophisticated colors like deep reds or vibrant blues.
  • If you’re round in the middle, there’s a whole selection of slimming suit options out there for you. Try camouflaging your belly with bold bright prints or one piece suits with perfectly placed ruching to disguise your middle. This also works well when you are expecting.
  • For those of you who are tall, thin and boy-shaped, choose swimsuits that accentuate your body. Go for angled stripes, soft colors and prints to show off your slim figure. xo
