Healthy Foods against Winter Stress

When your plate is full of responsibilities and you’re praying for just one moment of peace, it can be really difficult to put one foot in front of the other; believe us, we know what it’s like. Taking time for yourself can be hard to do, but if you make it a point to take just a few minutes to grab a snack, you might be surprised to find that your stress will start to fade. That is if you know what kind of snack to grab! While “comfort food” might sound like the right choice, these healthy snacks are what you should be reaching for when you want to de-stress:

·      Leafy Greens: While a salad might not exactly ring your “comfort food” bell, there is quite a bit to say about how a bunch of fresh greens can positively affect your body and your mindset! Crazy as it sounds, spinach actually helps you to produce dopamine, the pleasure chemical, with how much folate it contains. If you need to chill, why not make a little salad and you’ll feel great in no time!
·      Oatmeal: Start your day off with a big bowl of steel cut oats and you’ll be setting yourself up for a positive start! Since complex carbs (think no sugar) are known to help the brain create serotonin, a ‘happy’ chemical, you can effectively control your blood sugar levels so your body has a steady supply of serotonin to last you through ‘til lunch.
·      Blueberries: A handful of these little guys is just what you mind needs to relieve your stress! Since blueberries are full of antioxidants and phytonutrients (basically the superheroes of nutrients), the stress hormones in your body won’t stand a chance! Bonus: blueberries have been proven to improve your chances against cancer by boosting your immunity!
·      Salmon: If you’re feeling anxious, your body is probably on overdrive creating adrenaline and cortisol, the main hormones that are associated with stress. Luckily, the omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon have been proven to help counteract these stress-inducing hormones. Why not head to the sushi bar and indulge in some delicious stress-fight salmon bites?
·      Pistachios: This delicious snack is an easy way to fight anxiety and enjoy a few moments for yourself. Pack yourself a bag of these nuts and crack a few open when you get hungry. Not only will the repetitive motion with your hands help you to chill out physically, but the phytonutrients found in these nuts will help to calm your brain and offer cardiovascular support as well!
·      Dark Chocolate: Okay, I saved the best for last! While dark chocolate has been proven to aid in heart health, your mind can also benefit from this sweet treat! Not only your morale improve from indulging your sweet-tooth, but the antioxidants in the rich cocoa will help your blood vessels to relax, which in turn leads to lower blood pressure and improved circulation. Treat yourself to a bit of dark chocolate and let the stress just melt off your body!

The phrase, “you are what you eat,” can certainly apply here – when you know what kind of properties are in your food you can pick the right snacks to benefit any situation, even the most stressful moments! Which of these super foods that help fight stress will you be stocking up on?

Red Eye Shadow Inspiration

These days, it’s not unusual to find unique makeup looks trending. Everyone from celebrities to everyday people are dying their hair colors inspired by the rainbow or wearing bright blue lipstick. One of my favorite unique beauty trends happening right now is red eye shadow. It sounds intense but there are ways that you can wear red shadow without looking like a character from a dark teen romance novel. It’s all about blending order to make this beauty trend work for you. Find out some fun ways that you can rock red eye shadow.

Blended And Creamy- This look is perfect for a festival. It’s all about using a sheer cream eye shadow rather than a powder shadow to make it look like the blogger’s look below.

Bold Liner- Go for a bold black liquid liner  take your red shadow look over the top. It’ll help make your eyes look dramatic and sexy rather than scary.

Red And Gold- Your eye shadow doesn’t have to be one color. Add some gold shadow  to the inner
corners of your eyes after you’ve applied and blended your favorite red shadow.

Furry - Wintertime Fashions

Winter is the best time to stay in and get comfy but it’s just not possible. You have to get out there and brave the cold to get to work or to school or to whatever else keeps you occupied during the day so the next best thing is to dress up in cozy and comfy clothes. And what better way to get comfy while you’re out in the cold than to don something furry and fuzzy? If you’re looking for something to warm you up for the coming colder winter days, check out these fuzzy, furry fashion items that you can cozy up in.

LONG FUR GILET – on days when a super warm and heavy outfit isn’t necessary, a gilet would be a really nice piece to have. It’s not too chunky and it won’t have you feeling too hot like a full on jacket or coat but it’ll still keep you feeling cozy and snug. Instead of going for regular fur, go for long fur. It give your outfit a much more elegant look. Faux goat hair is a great alternative, too.

MINK COAT – want to add a bit of a luxurious look and feel to your outfit? All you need to do is throw on a mink coat on top of your outfit and you’ll be all set for the day. A mink coat can be a little expensive but it sure is a great investment for any fashionista. It’s the perfect outerwear for dressy looks and it’s something you can use to dress up simple and casual outfits as well.

SHEARLING – whether it’s the trim on your boots or on your gilet, shearling is something that’s sure to keep you warm and comfy. Unlike fur, shearling is a little clumpier. It also has less of a luxurious look and feel to it which makes it perfect for casual and street style outfits.

FUR SCARF – it doesn’t look like a scarf per se but rather more like a collar made out of fur. Wrap it around your neck to dress up a plain top or jumper and to keep you warm and cozy as well -

Color Combinations for Winter

When it comes to fashion, you can expect the colder days of fall and winter to be laden with dark colors and though all these look chic and sophisticated, it can get a little boring and even gloomy at times. If you’re like me who can’t stand wearing just dark colors all day every day, I’m sure you’re missing the fun and fabulous hues of spring and summer and you’re dying to throw in something really colorful into your look so we’re here with a number of gorgeous color combinations for cold days that’ll add some cheer into your usual everyday fall and winter outfits.
  • GRAY AND YELLOW – gray is a nice fall and winter color when you don’t want to go full on dark with black but still want something a little more muted but sometime this color gets passed off as a lonely color so adding something bright and cheery to it is important if you don’t want to end up with a sad look and what’s a happier color than yellow? Gray and yellow together is a color combo you should definitely not miss trying.

NAVY BLUE AND ORANGE – navy is a wonderful alternative to black if you don’t want to go too dark but without a fun and bright color, it can look drab. Navy blue and orange makes a chic and juicy outfit that’s perfect for everyday. Orange, when paired with blue, is the perfect kind of bright color that won’t be too ‘in-your-face’. What’s even better is that you don’t need to wear the brightest shade of orange with navy blue. Even a darker shade like tangerine would look perfect.

BLACK AND HOT PINK – an all black outfit is flattering but it can be too flat. An all pink outfit is really girly and cute but it might leave you looking like a 6-year-old who went crazy at Forever 21. The combination of both black and hot pink together in one outfit, though, is really chic and sophisticated. If you’re looking for a more grown up and less overwhelming way to wear pink, pairing it with a dark neutral color like black is definitely the best way to go.

BLACK AND WHITE – on the top of our list is the color combination black and white because what could be more sophisticated than these two colors together in one outfit, right? Black and white, though super simple and basic, is one of the most versatile color combos you can wear. It’s great for glitzy and dressy looks but it looks superb with casual and street style outfits as well. If you’re looking for a simple but edgy look, go for black and white.

Winter hair care

Summer may be over and that hot scorching summer sun may be out of sight right about no w but that doesn’t mean you can just let your hair be and do its thing while we’re out in the cold. Your summer hair care may have saved your hair last season but with new things in store for you and your hair this winter, you need to update it and make it fit for the season. Here are some winter hair care tips that you can incorporate into your routine.

  • DEEP CONDITION ONCE A WEEK – all that dry and warm indoor air you get from the heater and other artificial sources of heat can really dry up your locks so make sure that you do a deep conditioning treatment for your hair at least once every week, even if it’s just a home treatment. If you have the money to splurge, though, go ahead and go for a treatment at the salon. You can use that as your down time / relaxation time for the whole week as well.
  • DAILY CONDITIONER – aside from that deep conditioning treatment once a week, you should also look for a good daily intensive conditioner that will keep your hair soft and well-moisturized. You’ll want as much moisture in your hair as possible during the winter because they tend to get brittle with the cold season. Go ahead and skip shampoo but never conditioner. If your hair tends to dry out pretty quickly, you can switch from daily conditioning to every other day.
  • FIGHT STATIC – static-y hair isn’t very cute but it’s something you can’t help but deal with during winter. To make static hair go away, use a hairbrush with natural bristles as these do a better job at redistributing oil throughout your hair. You can also place a dryer sheet over your brush, natural bristles or not, to help smooth out your hair.
  • TURN ON THE HUMIDIFIER – but, doesn’t humidity cause frizzy hair? Well, yes, but if you have all that heating system giving you dry air indoors, you’ll have to fight the dryness and have some moisture in there and a humidifier is perfect for just that. The humidity will give your hair and skin just the right amount of moisture without frizzing your hair out.
  • DO NOT WASH YOUR HAIR WITH HOT WATER – yes, when it’s freezing cold outside, an almost-scalding bath can feel so good and relaxing but it can dry out your skin and if it can dry out your skin, it can dry out your hair too! Instead of using hot water, use lukewarm water to wash your hair (and take a bath). If you can take it, try rinsing your hair in cold water.

Trendguide: Hats for Winter

With winter quickly approaching, it’s best that you start slowly transitioning your wardrobe from fall to winter. To be honest, transitioning from these two seasons is the easiest because there’s not much to do except add more pieces that are heavier and warmer to get you through the freezing cold winter months. Whatever you have in fall can definitely be used for the earlier winter days as long as you add some accessories to keep you warmer. Speaking of accessories, check out these stylish hats for winter that you can use to keep your noggin warm.

POMPOM KNITTED BEANIE– if you find plain and simple beanies too mainstream, why not go for pompom ones? Those cute and fluffy balls can be sewn on all over your bonnet or just at the very top to add a quirky vibe to your look. Try to get your hands on a pompom bonnet that has one color for the bonnet itself and another (or multiple colors) for the pompoms.

Fake FUR HAT – noggin getting cold too quickly? A fur hat may just be what you need. This one has more of a wintery look and feel to it but you can definitely start wearing it for the later days of fall. Wear it with anything you want to dress up and lend an elegant vibe to. You can even wear it with the roughest, most rugged street style outfit to polish it up a little bit.

FLOPPY FELT HAT – a floppy felt hat can take your outfit from plain and simple to Hamptonite status in an instant, especially when worn with the right clothes. Floppy felt hats just have that very classy and exquisite look to them that’s sure to make any woman look and feel sophisticated. Wear it with a cute maxi dress and a fur coat or a lux cashmere sweater and leather pants to get the look.

IMMER SCHÖN AUF DIE MÜTZE

Oben ohne geht diesen Winter gar nichts!
