Boots by Body Type

Cool fall weather signals the start of boot season. Chances are, it’s time to give your footwear a serious reboot. With so many twists on the boot—from ankle boots, booties and flats to over-the-knee, wedge and stiletto—there’s a perfect style (or two, or three) for every body shape. Ready boots? Start walkin’.

Pear Shaped Girls: Wedges & Riding Boots

When your lower half is a bit larger, try looking for boot styles with a slight heel to give you a little a lift and help lengthen those stems. Steer clear of anything thigh-high or over-the-knee because they take up too much real estate. You never want to completely cover up a shapely leg – sometimes that only makes them seem bigger. Instead, flaunt them! When you keep legs bare, it maximizes a slim silhouette. All bootie or wedge styles are fair game, but super clunky, chunky heels are your foe. Pair a fun riding boot with an A-line skirt or wear it with your favorite pair of jeans for a shot of equestrian cool.

For Girls Who Are Top Heavy: Rain Boots & Thigh Highs

Since your legs are one of your best assets, inverted triangle shapes can work a variety of boot trends. Try a great flat boot or a motorcycle style for some attitude. Be ambitious! Maximize your leg length with styles that have vertical seams or laces – they draw long lines which, in turn, make legs appear even longer. The slight quarter-inch heel of a sleek pair of thigh high boots will help to make them look a lot less “Pretty Woman” and more “trendy fashionista.”

For The Hourglass Figured Girls: Booties & Knee-High Boots

When you have enviable curves, a bootie or knee-high style is ideal to show off your shape. Anything thigh-high or over-the-knee may compete with your curves and won’t look sleek and polished. Your figure does a lot of the talking and can give a paper bag a sense of sexiness, so choose simple, classic styles that streamline those killer curves. Anything that tapers to your leg will always flatter the most. Looking  for the perfect bootie to show off your hourglass curves? Choose a super chic pair possibly in of-the-moment oxblood; go for some zipper embellishments on a cute ankle-grazing bootie for a fun look this season. xo

STYLING FOR YOUR BODY TYPE

Spring is such wonderful season. The sun is finally out and flowers are blooming everywhere you turn, while shorts and skirts are getting shorter. I’m all for wearing what you want, but sometimes it’s more flattering to plan your outfits around your body shape. When you look good you feel good, so why not accentuate the good that your body has to offer this spring? Here’s my guide to dressing for your body type: spring trends edition.
Rectangle- If you find that you’re a little less curvy and a bit straighter edge, you’re going to want to accentuate the smallest points of your body. So think skater skirts and dresses. Stylish floral jumpsuits are a big spring trend and they also work well with your body type. Maybe go all out and pick up a floppy hat and 70s style accessories. Why not show off that newly accentuated waist?

Pear- Maybe you’re a little curvier below the hips. I say, shake those hips and be sure flatter them the best you can by going bare shouldered in a strapless dress, that flares out a bit to draw attention up to your body rather than just down. Another vintage spring trend, flared pants, can also help draw attention down rather than just around your hip areas.

Apple- If you’re top heavy, meaning that you gain weight around your top section, then you want to again flatter that waist and bring the eye down. A fitted jacket or sleeveless loose top might work best for you. Flowy dresses also help show off your legs.

Hourglass- If you have an hourglass shape then any formfitting style would be best. You might want to consider dresses that show off your curves or something with has straight lines to draw the eye all over. I think an off the shoulder romper might be the best spring trend for you.

PLUS SIZE BLOGGERS YOU’LL LOVE

As far as plus-size fashion goes, it’s a common gripe that there seems to be a gaping hole in the marketplace when it comes to brands that are equal parts on-trend and made to flatter curves, and that there aren’t enough plus-size women at the forefront of fashion to set a positive example. Luckily, that’s starting to change—an increasing number of brands and stores are including plus-size merchandise and, in some awesome cases, models in their campaigns. While that’s all amazing, it’s really the advent of plus-size fashion bloggers that seems to be making the most influential waves.
What’s so refreshing about curvy bloggers isn’t the fact that we’re seeing a varied collection of bodies in a marketplace that’s getting to be way too standardized, but really the idea that most of these young women truly understand style, and—as a result—understand that the there are no such things as “rules” in fashion!
Before we had these young women as examples, there’s a good chance most full-figured women would shy away from trends like crop tops, bold patterns, and body-con dresses, but now we’re seeing that these types of things not only work for a huge variety of shapes, but can also look fabulous and modern if chosen correctly, just like any other item on any other body type.

Boots For Every Body Type

You might like those boots on sale but before you buy them, know this: boots can be specific on body types as well. Avoid the mistake of investing on the wrong footwear by reading this guide.

HOURGLASS SHAPE

You might be able to wear any kind of garment available, but when it comes to boots, it is the complete opposite . Round-toe boots with sturdy cone heels – with platforms or none – are best for your body type.

BANANA SHAPE

Have an athletic or rectangular-shaped body? Even with your lack of curves, you can create the illusion of shape with stiletto-heel boots. Embellished designs are great for your shape, as long as you steer away from models with chunky buckles. Got long legs? Flatter your stature by going with flat boots.

APPLE SHAPE

Fine-tune your rounded shape by wearing wedge boots. They work with slim legs or thick calves. Chunky-heeled boots also work well with apple-shaped girls. Embellished and buckled boots are favorable for curvaceous ladies as well.

PEAR SHAPE

Because of your shapely hips and butt, the best boots for you are knee-length ones. The length is ideal for your body type since it makes your legs look longer and leaner. To create a slimmer look, wear a dress that is similar to the color of your knee-length boots.

PLUS SIZE

Worried about your shape? With the right boots, you can look slimmer instantly. Ankle-length boots that go below the knees are the best choices for plus size ladies

Swim Suit For Your Body Type

Summer, in so many ways, is the best time of the year. Beach days and bbq’s, boating and long days with friends are all things we can look forward to. But finding a swim suit that is both flattering and stylish is not easy feat. From not feeling totally comfortable to wearing a suit that simply doesn’t fit well, securing the perfect suit for your body type this summer is absolutely essential! Take a look at these tips for putting the fun back into summer with a swimsuit you can feel good about.

  • If a big bust  prevents you from finding the swimsuit of your dreams, keep this in mind: halter tops and racer backs are your best friends. They offer lift and coverage without giving you too much coverage. If you are top-heavy, wear prints on your smallest body part of your body to draw visual attention away from where you are bigger and wear sold colors where you are bigger.
  • For anyone out there who’s blessed with a bigger bottom, find suits that bring the eyes up and take attention away from your problem area. Choose suits with a nice balance which may mean less coverage up top or by going with a brighter, more busy top.
  • If you’re more of a full-figured gal, go ahead and show off your favorite assets with a plunging neckline. Go modest on other areas with a one-piece suit that hugs your frame and complements your shape. A bold print and ruching can help draw attention away from problem areas. But dark solids are also very slimming.
  • If you’re petite, you own it to yourself to go bold. Choose a bright color suit that helps your small frame stand out. Look for solid, sophisticated colors like deep reds or vibrant blues.
  • If you’re round in the middle, there’s a whole selection of slimming suit options out there for you. Try camouflaging your belly with bold bright prints or one piece suits with perfectly placed ruching to disguise your middle. This also works well when you are expecting.
  • For those of you who are tall, thin and boy-shaped, choose swimsuits that accentuate your body. Go for angled stripes, soft colors and prints to show off your slim figure. xo
