Guide To Winter Layering

Winter is the perfect time to experiment with layers. Stun others without looking like a pile of disheveled clothes with these stylish pieces for winter layering:

Skinny Jeans

As one of the most indispensable fashion items in your closet, e perfect pair of dark wash skinny jeans can prettify your winter layers. Planning to do some errands? Wear them with your favorite boots. Want to paint the town red? You can do so by pairing your jeans with a luxe top and pointed flats.

Knit Sweater Dress

Tired of wearing just pants this winter? Then make sure to get your hands on a stylish knit sweater dress. While most designs are sack styles, you can show your feminine form by cinching your waist with a thin belt.

Knee-High Boots

Stylish girls like us can never have too many knee-high boots! Wonderfully warming, they add a dash of style to an otherwise boring winter wardrobe. Flats are best for casual occasions, while heeled ones are more for parties and other more formal events.

Christmas gift Ideas

Christmas shopping can be a little tricky sometimes. Sure, you may want to fill up their stocking with trinkets they’ll love. But making memories together is one of the best gifts you can give to anyone you love. If you’re looking for gifts that will last far beyond the holidays, consider the gifts of experiences.

1. Spa Day – Who wouldn’t love a spa day? Grab a certificate from their favorite spa (or choose one you love) and pair it with a makeup kit for the ultimate gift of relaxation and beautification.

2. Theater Tickets – Get tickets for a great show in the next couple of months for a fun night out. Pair it with their favorite theater candy or snack.

3. Cooking Class – If you have a foodie on your list, a gourmet cooking class is the definite way to go. Search local listings and cooking specialty stores for options. Pair this gift with a set of basic cooking utensils (whisk, wooden spoon, chef’s knife, etc. are all great options).

4. Weekend Getaway – If you know someone who has a case of wanderlust, setting them up with a credit for a weekend stay somewhere is the ultimate gift. Pair this with a great weekender bag for easy packing.

5. Staycation – If a weekend getaway is out of the question, pick a new resort or hotel in their area – preferably one with a great restaurant – and give them a voucher for a night’s stay and dinner for two. The hotel can usually help arrange a great staycation experience. This also pairs well with a weekender bag.

6. Brunch with a View – Treat them to brunch at a spot in their city that has a spectacular view for a change of scenery from the norm. Pair this gift with a bottle of champagne or prosseco to set the tone.

Get a little PUNK ROCK in you

The punk look is something that catches my eye to no end. It’s not something that I wear just because I’m not entirely sure that I can pull it off but I always love seeing the style on women who can carry the look with such style. Even if you’re not a punk girl yourself, I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy trying the look out on days when you want to veer away from your usual style and into something new. Check out these tips on how to do the street style punk look.

WEAR A LEATHER JACKET – another easy way to have that punk-ish vibe to your look is to top off your outfit with a cool and edgy leather jacket. A leather jacket is something that you should definitely considered investing in, punk or not, because it’s quite versatile and can be used with a number of other styles and looks as well including really girly ones.

CREATE STARK CONTRAST – if you take a good look at most punk looks, you’ll notice that if it’s not an all black outfit, it’s often a mixture of very light and very dark colors. You can achieve this by wearing combining such colors and making sure there’s perfect balance throughout your outfit. Also, feel free to use more than one color in your look. One of the most popular color combos for the street style punk look includes red, black and white.

GRAPHIC ROCKER SHIRT – don’t feel like going too dark today but still want to get a bit of that hint of punk in your outfit? You can do that by wearing a graphic rocker shirt instead. Go through your older brother’s closet for some vintage rock band shirts or maybe sport one of your own from your favorite band.

PULL IT ALL TOGETHER WITH HAIR AND MAKEUP – lastly, if you really want the full shebang, you should do your hair and makeup punk style. If a lady Mohawk isn’t an option for you, you can go for a fauxhawk instead. Simply dying your hair a rad color would be great, too. Makeup should be light but dark – light on the amount and number of products used but dark on the colors.

Gingham Style

Gingham print is often confused with other checkered patterns like plain and tartan so before we get on, let’s just be clear with what gingham really is. Gingham is basically a checkered print that consists of white and another bold color such as red, blue or even yellow. Now, gingham has been an iconic print pattern but the looks that made it famous weren’t exactly chic and stylish. Case in point: a summer picnic blanket, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz’s pinafore dress and, of course, Raggedy Andy’s costume. When worn right, though, gingham can easily look super tasteful and chic. Here are some ideas on how to wear gingham, especially this fall.
Wear gingham with denim – denim always has this way of making any print or fabric look so casually chic. Wearing gingham with denim is one good way to get rid of the not-so-pretty and conventional image of gingham. Don’t limit yourself to just a gingham printed shirt and denim jeans. Get more experimental and try out other combos like a denim / chambray shirt and a gingham skirt or maybe even a dress layered on top of a gingham collared top. Also try to really explore your options and try pairing your gingham piece with colored denim instead of the usual blue ones.

Go for unconventional colors – red and white gingham is very reminiscent of the summer picnic blankets and white and blue is very Raggedy Andy-like. If you want to escape these gingham ‘stereotypes’, go for gingham print in an unconventional color like green or pink or yellow. This will make your gingham printed piece look more chic instead of tacky and tasteless.

eep the rest simple – gingham is already a bold statement all on its own so try to keep the rest of your outfit plain and simple. You don’t need any more knickknacks to adorn your outfit with when you already have a gingham printed piece to sport.

Hair Colors for this Fall

Along with the changing of the leaves’ colors, a lot of women like to change their hair. Fall is always a good excuse to dye your hair a new color. I know most women want to go darker for fall and winter but it doesn’t always have to be the case, especially if your skin color doesn’t go very well with dark hair colors. If you’re looking for ideas on what hue to get your hair into this season, check out these colors to dye your hair with this fall and get inspired.
Bronde – blonde is such a light color which is why it’s not something you would usually wear for the colder months but for those of you out there who just can’t get enough of this classic color, a really fun way to switch it up a little but still get the color on your locks is to go bronde. Bronde, basically, just is brunette and blonde together. You can achieve the color by getting darker, richer and browner highlights and lowlights while keeping your base blonde or the other way around, depending on what color you want to look more dominant.

Ginger red – gingers always have that nice, warm and cozy look about them and it mostly comes from the warmth of their hair color. If you’re looking for a more adventurous color to sport this fall, try going ginger red. It’s the perfect autumn color but it can be a little tricky to maintain so make sure to get as much info about post-dyeing hair care tips from your stylist.

Dark Choco – whoever said blondes always get the most fun must not have tried going brunette yet. Dark chocolaty brunette colors are perfect for fall because they’re warm and they bring out the glow in you, making you look more radiant.

Sombre – ombres are so last year but if you haven’t had enough of it yet and don’t want to look like you’re stuck up on the trend, going somber is your best bet. Now, what is sombre, you ask? Sombre simply means ‘subtle ombre’ and this will give your hair just that natural graduating look in its colors. Since you’ll need to be a little more precise about the placement of highlights and lowlights for a sombre, I would strongly recommend you have it done by a pro.

Why not try these new modern looks? xo

CLOSET INSPIRATION

What girl hasn’t fantasized about having her very own massive walk-in closet? Especially after seeing Anne Hathaway immersed in Runway Magazine’s editorial closet in arguably one of the best fashion movies, The Devil Wears Prada. Or Carrie Bradshaw’s closet in SATC.

For inspiration of my ideal walk-in closet, I turned to Pinterest.

All the better to see your full outfit, right?! Not to mention they would magnify the chandelier’s light to create a beautifully lit room.

f the laundry is going to be in the closet at some point, why not simplify things and have the washer and drying super close by.
What are you daydreams for a beautiful closet? I’d love to hear your ideas and see your pictures of favorite dream closets you’re lusting after! Share with me in the comments!
