Fall 2014 Trends Inspiration

If there’s one thing all fashionistas are excited about with each change of season, it’s the new trends that arise. Keeping up with the hottest and most recent trends is not as easy as you think it is, especially if you don’t know where to get information and inspiration from. Thankfully, we have thousands of resources right at the tip of our fingers, reachable via the Internet. Browsing the newest trends can be a little overwhelming, too. Sometimes, there’s just too much that we get too intimidated. If you’re looking for a place to start, check out these trends you shouldn’t pass up on wearing this fall.
1. Sexy slits – if you’re thinking about how you can look sexy this fall without having to compromise warmth and comfort, here’s a really chic and stylish solution for you: slits. They may have never left the fashion scene but we’ve really missed seeing them regularly, especially on the streets. Wearing a skirt or a dress with a slit is a great way to show off some skin and look sexy without letting yourself freeze out in the cold. If you’re daring enough, you can go for a double slit.
2. Fall florals – another trend you shouldn’t pass up on wearing this fall are florals. Floral printed pieces are not just for spring and summer, especially when they’re dark florals. If you’re looking for a print that can keep your looks feminine this fall, go for florals. To make sure they’re autumn appropriate, go for floral prints with darker or earthier dominant colors. These will also blend in easier with the rest of your fall wardrobe.
3. Mad for mod – the runways have been brimming with 60s inspired pieces lately and we just can’t wait to see these on the streets. From turtlenecks to boxy cuts and androgynous silhouettes, everything from the 60s is back and in full swing so take this opportunity, sport these trends and pull off a Twiggy!

4. Pretty pastels – soft and pretty pastels are giving dark, rich and warm colors a run for their money. This year, fall’s not just about looking vampy in dark hues anymore. Pretty pastels are taking over, giving the traditional fall look a lighter and more airy twist. Go all out and don a spring inspired fall outfit with fall essentials in pastel colors or stick to the dark colors and use your pastels as a pop of color instead.

‘MINIMALIST’ LOOK

OK – so you’re thinking seriously about becoming a minimalist. Maybe not from a full-scope life perspective, but for sure when it comes to your personal style. As your career and life evolves, so does your style – and finding yourself leaving your over-accessorizing ways behind to adopt a more simple sensibility is completely normal. Sometimes when life starts to get hectic and stressful (like in our work or relationships), reeling in other aspects, like a morning routine or approach to fashion, can provide a sense of calm and reliability. So why not make your daily style the place to start. Whether you’re thinking in terms of essential earrings that go with everything to must-have trousers that transition seamlessly from day to night, the essentials of a minimalist look can build a stunning closet. Keep reading to learn a little bit about what you can do with the basics and how less is often a whole bunch more.
Dark Rinse Jeans. These are your go-to. Perfect with a pair of flip flops or your highest heels, the ultimate pair of jeans is classic, not trendy. Try a simple boot cut or trouser style to dress them up a bit.

One statement Necklace that can be worn with the perfect simple dress or a simple white tee.

Perfect White T-Shirt. Find the one that goes with everything – from jeans to skirts. Dress it up with  a blazer or keep it casual.

An easy black blazer to go with everything from your LBD to your white tee.

A big leather tote that works day or night.

A favorite pair of sunnies – you know the type – you can’t be without them and they go with absolutely everything.

Have you ever tried scaling back your closet to only the essentials of a minimalist look? xo

TRENDGUIDE: SNEAKERS

Modern day style rules say…wait a second, there’s no such thing! Yea, the fashion rulebook has officially been thrown out the window in this day and age. Since the revelation of not having to wear what society dictates, casual sneakers have made a major comeback!

From off duty models to bloggers to fashion editors alike, now you’ll see them all running around from one fashion show to the next, in none other than their comfy sneaks. And the design labels have quickly caught on, putting out some of the most colorful and fun styles you can imagine.

Sneakers and sequins, sure it works! Anything goes now days, it’s kind of amazing! No more are the cool kicks only for the boys; this time around the girls are rocking the casual, too!

Classic black and white Chuck Taylors are the easiest way to wear this trend. These kicks are transitional between dressed up and casual styles. Teamed with a vintage graphic tee and your favorite denim, you’ll look like a pretty tomboy who knows her trends!

What’s your favorite way to wear this newly resurfaced trend? I’d love to hear the ideas you have for rocking your stylish kicks! Share below in the comments!

TRENDGUIDE: SOCKS AND HEELS

Style has always been a matter of personal preference, no matter what anyone tells you. Fads have come and gone but only the truly classic staples have remained. Lately we’ve seen a lot of fuss over the new trend: wearing socks with heels. Is this really much different than someone wearing socks and sandals?

How lovely is it to mix and match multiple trends in one outfit! If you’re new to socks and heels, try pairing a closely related shade of socks to your heels so they blend together without drawing too much attention. This is an easy way to tweak your outfit without changing too much of what you’re used to.

Flirting with a little texture in a meshed lace sock can give your outfit a romantic feel. Try a cream colored sock in striped mesh with neutral or pastel shoes and a little white dress for the perfect springtime ensemble!
You decide! Are you going to stick around and play with this fun new trend or are you running for the hills in your sockless soles not ready to slide into fashion faux pas history?  Let us know below in a comment! XO

TRENDGUIDE: BLACK + WHITE

This season you can’t go wrong with a black and white monochromatic look, it’s minimalistic and super easy to throw together! Take stock of the classic black and white separates you have in your closet and recreate these inspiration outfits. Here are my favorite ways to wear black and white with a little help of Pinterest.

One of the chicest pieces that every woman should own is a perfectly fitted pair of black  or white skinny jeans. They’re both casual and dressy. When you need to step it up a notch, throw on your favorite black skinny jeans with a blouse and blazer and you’re all set! Play with this versatile garment for a variety of styles including suit inspired, casual bohemian with a flowing top or totally preppy with a sweater!

Feel pretty as a princess. This color palette is simply divine for full-skirted looks. Take inspiration from classic ballerinas and slip into a tulle skirt. This trend is one to try this season! Try pairing a full tutu skirt and a striped crop top for a modern-urban take on this girlish look (very Carrie from SATC). Perhaps you’re looking to more casual look – go for a modest sweater and tights duo.

What’s your favorite way to wear this classic palette? xo

OBSESSED FROM ZUHAIR MURAD COUTURE

I have been looking forward this show so much – Zuhair Murad is one of my favorites and the designs are always sexy with just a small dose of fantasy. From plunging necklines and zebra stripes to ethereal lace and bronze branch details, the glamorous gowns sent down his spring 2014 couture runway were to die for and I can definitely see them for the red carpet. The hair and makeup on the models let the dresses do the talking and appeared unstated, glowing and beautiful with sleek middle parts and rosy cheeks. Love it !! xo
