Fall Wedding

One of the most popular times of year for weddings, fall is an excellent choice when it comes to setting the date. From the crisp autumn air to the bright, blue sky and changing leaves, Mother Nature offers a backdrop that can’t be beat. Planning ahead for slightly cooler temps with fun wedding additions like a cozy fire and wraps or blankets for guests are just a few of the ways a fall wedding is unique. Here’s a look at fall wedding ideas from around the web.

Perfumes for Fall

As the seasons change, so do our moods and the fragrances we wear to reflect them. The warmer scents of fall inspire spicier, woodsier perfumes, reflective of the rich colors and thicker textures beholden to the season. With the official start of fall just a few short days away, I’m ready to update my perfume tray with a few sultrier concoctions. If you’re ready to update, too, think of scents that go hand-in-hand with caramel, pumpkin, and cinnamon. These are the bases that inspired the new fall 2014 perfume lineup, some of which are listed below.

  1. Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Jo Malone  – Inspired by the sea-side air and windswept shore, Jo Malone’s new fragrance combines the woody earthiness of sage with the freshness of ocean waves.
  2. Velvet Rose by Dolce & Gabbana  – If you’re a rose lover, this is the perfect fragrance for you. It combines three different types of roses with a hearty musk base.
  3. Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez – This seductively musky scent is clean and forward thinking.
  4. Bonbon by Viktor & Rolf  – As the name implies, this scent was inspired by caramel with notes of peach, amber and sandalwood.
  5. Halston Woman Amber by Halston – An exotic blend that combines amber, tuberose, musk and sandalwood with Italian mandarin and red currants.
Have you tried any of these scents yet? Which one has you ready to celebrate the holidays

Styling : Summer to Fall Wardrobe

While there is certainly a definite update to a wardrobe that happens when fall comes around, there’s no need to completely get rid of your warmer weather items. There are some key pieces from summer that can be re-worked to be incorporated into the cooler months. The key is to think about layering, as well as adding tights, jackets, and scarves to existing pieces. If you’re ready to change it up for the transitional months, here’s a list of garments you can keep in the rotation for weeks to come.

White T-Shirt – This is probably the most versatile piece you’ll ever own, and chances are you’ll keep it around throughout all the seasons. Add a scarf, jacket and dark denim for a fall-ready look. And here are some other tips on how to layer and glam it up.

Bright Colors – Don’t shy away from bright (even neon!) colors for fall. If you pair them with leather (a jacket, pants, or even a circle skirt), it will fit right into the season. Shorts – If you have shorts in a thick fabric, or leather, they will work well with a structured jacket and tights.

Finish off the look with boots and jewel toned accessories.

Summer Dresses – Florals are in for fall in a big way, so if you have dresses with prints, re-purpose them with a jacket, scarf, and tights with boots for a fashion-forward look.

Open-toed Shoes – More and more, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear open-toed footwear for fall, considering how much warmer the summer-to-fall months are becoming. Keep peep-toe booties and sandals (particularly ones with thicker heels) in your closet for warmer days. Pair them with warmer colors in the rest of your ensemble for a season-appropriate look.

LOVE my Converse: Most Fashionable Sneakers

To be honest, if I were given money to spend on a few couple pairs of shoes a few years ago, Converse wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list. I just wasn’t the type of girl to wear sneakers or trainers or tennis shoes or whatever you would call them. I always preferred heels, wedges, flats and boots to sneakers because I think it suited my style more and those were the shoes that I was comfortable with wearing. Recently, though, I’ve slipped into a pair of Converse shoes and realized how comfy they were so I tried to wear them as much as I can these past few weeks and I can’t believe how versatile they are as well! They work so well with so many items in my closet and I’m pretty sure they would work great with yours, too! Here are some stylish  styling inspiration  to wear with Converse shoes.

Styling Inspiration : First Date

Going out on a first date shouldn’t put that much pressure on us girls but sometimes when the guy you really like asks you out on a date, you can’t help but stress out over tiny things such as how to act, what to say and, of course, what to wear for your first date. It’s understandable – I know you want to impress him but be careful in planning certain things out because you’ll still want your true self to shine, right? What you wear to a first date is very important. It contributes greatly to your date’s first impression of you. You’ll want to wear something that’d make you look extra cute while still allowing you to sport your own personal style. Check out these tips on what to wear to a first date to help you decide on what outfit to put together for that first date.

Something girly – even if you’re not really a girly girl, at least try to wear something that’s feminine for a first date. Men always love it when women look cute and dainty. Dresses are always great for achieving that soft feminine look but if dresses are not your thing, there are other ways that you can look feminine as well. A lace or silk blouse, for example, can be worn with a pair of jeans for the perfect balance of girly and comfy casual.

Something that shows your personal style – as much as you want to impress your date by dressing up the way most men like women dressed up, try not to go overboard to the point where you no longer show what your personal style really is. Most men will say they don’t care much about women’s fashion but believe me, they will know when you’re faking it. How, you ask? Because wearing something you’re not used to will show and you won’t look and feel very comfy in it.

Don’t worry about labels – unless he works in fashion, your date won’t know whether you’re wearing Prada, Jimmy Choo or whatnot or if you’re wearing something you got from the thrift store. Don’t worry about the labels and choose something that you’re comfortable with instead. Nothing is more gorgeous than a woman who is comfortable with herself.

Comfy clothes – how would you feel if your date never stopped fidgeting in front of you? Wouldn’t you feel awkward and think there’s something wrong? Well, think about that for a second before you choose what to wear to a first date. You don’t want your date to think you don’t really want to be there by fidgeting so much now, would you? This is why it’s important to wear comfortable clothes when going on a date, especially the first one.

Something appropriate – if you don’t know where your date is taking you, ask. Most first dates aren’t surprise dates so there’s a pretty good chance he’ll tell you where he plans on taking you. This will prevent you from overdressing or under-dressing. If you’re going out on a fancy dinner date, you can always rely on your trusty ol’ LBD. A quick coffee in the afternoon, on the other hand, calls for something more casual like t-shirt and jeans or maybe even shorts.

Print Combinations To Try Now

The print on print trend is still on for this season so we’re making the best out of it before it goes out of style (though honestly, I wish it would stay a bit longer since it’s such a cute trend). Despite the fact that this trend has been around for quite some time now, not everyone is comfortable with wearing it yet. A lot of women think that wearing two different prints in one outfit will end up in a tacky look while some aren’t sure about how to make a cute outfit with clashing details.
While it can be a challenge, the print on print trend is certainly wearable and very easy to do if you know how to go about it. If you want to try out the print on print trend, check out these cool print combinations:

Stripes and floral prints – stripes and floral prints make a great combination because stripes aren’t too detailed and ornate while floral prints often are. The combination creates a perfectly balanced look that’s not too overwhelming. If you’re doing the print on print trend for the first time, this is one of the print combinations that you can try. It’s a statement maker yet it’s not too loud or too bold to intimidate you or other people.

Same but different – I know the bullet title sounds confusing but it’s actually quite simple. If you want to sport the print on print trend and do a look that’s different but somehow still the same, why not wear the same print with a different design. For example, you can wear floral prints from head to toe but wear abstract floral prints on top and graphic floral prints down the bottom. This styling trick makes it easier for you to create a more cohesive outfit that still has that trendy twist.

Matchy-matchy – not bold enough to mix two completely different prints in one outfit but still want to do the print on print look? A really simple and easy way to go about doing this is to wear matching prints from head to toe. It’s just like wearing a dress in a certain pattern / print except that you’re wearing it in two separate pieces.

Polka dots and stripes – another really fun and simple print combination that you can sport this summer is polka dots and stripes together. Both prints are simple and clean but when worn together, they make one heck of a tandem. Since both prints require at least two colors, try to wear them in the same color palette. If you have the classic black and white stripes, reach for a black and white polka dotted piece as well.
