• Abendveranstaltungen müssen keine langweilige Angelegenheit sein; wer sich nicht an Dresscodes halten möchte, muss bei den Kombinationen nur achten, dass die Farben miteinander harmonieren; auch wenn man farbige Details trägt, soll der Rest klassisch bleiben!

Oscars 2014 fashion: Best and worst dressed

These days, the fashion on the Oscars red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre generates as many headlines as who wins those little gold guys inside.

But, put a foot wrong on this red carpet and the pictures will haunt an actor for the rest of their career.

Which explains why many are reluctant to take any risks with their look. Jennifer Lawrence opts out of the dress race completely by always wearing the same designer .....

TRENDGUIDE 2014 : SNEAKERS

This look, or a high-low variation, is going to be the look of 2014. I know this because wherever my eye has alighted during the past few weeks of shows, it has snagged on a highly evolved (ie designer version) of sporty footwear. I don't mean those wedge-trainer hybrids that Isabel Marant spawned ages ago, and which even she said THIS WEEK  she can no longer bear to look at, but proper sneakers and skate shoes...

No more murder on the dance floor. I may have to break the habit of a lifetime and get on down there. In my skate shoes...xo
