Fun Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is approaching meaning it’s time to pick out gifts and think of some fun Mother’s Day adventures. When we think of Mother’s Day plans, we tend to think of breakfast in bed or brunch with endless mimosas. Don’t get me wrong, those ideas all sound amazing and are sure-fire ways to show your mother that you love her, but why not try to plan something a little different this year? It’s time that we get those creative juices flowing and decide on something that will absolutely wow your mom. These are just some of my own ideas for creative Mother’s Day outings that don’t include brunch.

Plan An Adventure- Yes, an actual adventure. Maybe you could book a sunset catamaran ride. If your mom is up to swimming and doing outdoor actives, you could find a great hiking trail, or plan a snorkeling trip.
Do Something To Show Her You Care- Take her on a picnic and pack all her favorite goodies. Do some of her favorite activities. If she likes art, take her to a museum. If she likes shopping, plan a surprise trip to her favorite stores. Make sure the day is about her and what she likes to do.
Think Outside The Box- Surprise her by planning an activity she won’t be expecting. What’s something that she’s been dying to do but hasn’t had the chance? Maybe it’s tango or salsa lessons? Or maybe your mom is a little more adventurous and wouldn’t mind taking a shot at skydiving? If not, then definitely book the tango lessons. We don’t want to terrify her for more Mother’s Day celebrations to come.
Have A Party-Why is it that when we think ‘Mother’s Day,’ the thought of teatime and lame floral patterns comes to mind? Mother’s Day is a celebration! So what if you planned a party and invited all your mom’s friends along with their kids? Crank up the party music, pour some wine and be sure to tell your mother you love her.

JEANS & SHOES COMBOS

Is there anything more classic than a great pair of jeans? I feel like I could add a blazer and wear that as a uniform anywhere. Jeans go well with just about anything and work for weekends, date nights, and even the office if you know how to style them. But, as always, if you’re going for a certain look, you’ll want to wear the right shoes to go with them. Deciding on the right pair is actually rather easy  as long as you know what vibe you’re looking for. To help you get started, here are some tips to help narrow down your choices for jeans & shoes combos to rock season after season.
BLACK PUMPS – Going for the classic ‘model off duty’ look? A pair of black pumps is sure to look great with any pair of jeans you’re planning to wear – be it skinny ones, bootleg, straight cut or even cropped. Not sure what shoes would look great with that outfit you’re wearing? Black pumps can surely do the trick for you, too.

NUDE HEELS – If you don’t have very long legs and you want to pull off cropped jeans, a pair of nude heels can help you achieve the illusion of longer legs to make it work. Make sure your nude heels match or at least come close to your skin tone to maximize the elongating effect. You can also wear nude heels with jeans that have a rather short hemline.

PRINTED PUMPS – If you’re going for as simpler look and you want your shoes to be the main focus of your outfit, go for printed pumps. These will look fab with basic jeans and a simple top because they will really stand out.

FLIP FLOPS AND FLAT SANDALS – Jeans and flip flops or flat sandals make the perfect combo for an easy summer outfit. Flip flops and flat sandals with jeans are great for when you want to pop by the beach for a walk, for a quick trip to the mall or for running everyday errands.

SNEAKERS – Whether you’re going for a slightly sporty look or a tomboy-ish kind of vibe, a pair of sneakers is definitely your best bet. With regular jeans, your sneakers can lend your outfit just the right hint of that sporty vibe but with full on ripped and distressed pants, you can achieve a really cool tomboy look and ....

BOOTS – You can’t go wrong with a boots-and-jeans combo. Ankle boots are great for summer while taller boots are perfect to pair up with your jeans in winter. Going for that ‘Ride or Die chick’ look? Pair up your jeans with a beat up pair of moto boots. You can also wear cowboy boots with your jeans to get that country princess look. xo

Fashion Rules To Break in 2015

There are many fashion commandments in the world. Some are great to live by, while some are complete bollocks. Here are some foolish fashion rules that you should resolve to break right now.
Two Prints Don’t Go Together

Print on print is one of the hottest trends of today because it adds a bit of spunk into any wardrobe. Get the perfect look by choosing complementing prints – meaning a mix of a vibrant style and a subdued pattern. Master this rule and you will be able to wear two prints seamlessly.
Stripes Can Make You Look Bigger

That’s what most people think, but it’s not true. To be safe though, choose thin stripes. Wear a lined top with a jacket or a blazer to create contrast.

Sheen is Only for the Nighttime

Sequins, glitter, jewels and studs – they are no longer reserved for formal or nocturnal events. Yes, you can wear them during daytime as well. Just remember not to outshine the sun! Tone down the sheen with dressed-down pieces, such as a plain white shirt or skinny jeans.

Don’t Wear White After Labor Day

White is immaculate – it makes you look clean, polished and sophisticated. Now why would you stop wearing your white pieces after Labor Day? Ditch this old wives’ fashion tale and wear your pristine pieces whenever you want to.

Petite Girls Should Not Wear Long Dresses

If you believe that long dresses can make you look shorter, that’s where you are wrong. Such a flowing dress can create an illusion of height, as long as you choose one with a nice-fitting design. Avoid super loose designs or you will end up eaten by the fabric.

Socks with Sandals are Tacky

Beg to differ and say yes! Socks with sandals are not as tacky as you think they are. This pairing, in fact, is a great solution for the wintertime. With socks, you can wear your favorite sandals without freezing your toes off.

Looks From Last Night’s People’s Choice Awards 2015

Did you catch the People’s Choice Awards last night? There were some big wins for the ladies as well as a major night for “The Big Bang Theory” (catch the full list of winners here). But the red carpet leading up to the event was also something worth watching. Some of spring’s upcoming trends were in full view along with some more classic pieces. If you missed out on last night’s fashion, read ahead for my roundup on trends from the 2015 People’s Choice Awards

1. Pant suits: These ladies took a cue from the guys wearing polished pant looks in sleek cuts. Some wore more feminine silhouettes, while others wore menswear inspired ensembles. But all looked absolutely fabulous.

2. Dark Romance: These ladies did not miss an opportunity to dazzle in dark romantic lace and ruffles. Black is a classic on the red carpet for any awards show, but each of these was a standout piece.

3. Ladylike: Showing signs of what’s coming up for Spring 2015 were these delicate florals, pastels, and full skirts, all making for very ladylike pieces. Mint in particular will be showing strong in the upcoming season.

Furry - Wintertime Fashions

Winter is the best time to stay in and get comfy but it’s just not possible. You have to get out there and brave the cold to get to work or to school or to whatever else keeps you occupied during the day so the next best thing is to dress up in cozy and comfy clothes. And what better way to get comfy while you’re out in the cold than to don something furry and fuzzy? If you’re looking for something to warm you up for the coming colder winter days, check out these fuzzy, furry fashion items that you can cozy up in.

LONG FUR GILET – on days when a super warm and heavy outfit isn’t necessary, a gilet would be a really nice piece to have. It’s not too chunky and it won’t have you feeling too hot like a full on jacket or coat but it’ll still keep you feeling cozy and snug. Instead of going for regular fur, go for long fur. It give your outfit a much more elegant look. Faux goat hair is a great alternative, too.

MINK COAT – want to add a bit of a luxurious look and feel to your outfit? All you need to do is throw on a mink coat on top of your outfit and you’ll be all set for the day. A mink coat can be a little expensive but it sure is a great investment for any fashionista. It’s the perfect outerwear for dressy looks and it’s something you can use to dress up simple and casual outfits as well.

SHEARLING – whether it’s the trim on your boots or on your gilet, shearling is something that’s sure to keep you warm and comfy. Unlike fur, shearling is a little clumpier. It also has less of a luxurious look and feel to it which makes it perfect for casual and street style outfits.

FUR SCARF – it doesn’t look like a scarf per se but rather more like a collar made out of fur. Wrap it around your neck to dress up a plain top or jumper and to keep you warm and cozy as well -

Ultimate Fall Prints

Fall is just right around the corner and as much as we hate to say goodbye to easy breezy summer dressing, we really don’t have a choice. Temperatures are about to drop so it’s a good idea to start getting your wardrobe ready for some bundling up as early as now, no matter how hot it may still be. If you’re already planning your wardrobe for fall, you may have noticed that you tend to gravitate towards darker colors and this tends to lead to dull and boring outfits. To keep your fall looks interesting, one thing you can do is to wear prints instead of just plain, solid dark colors. For those of you out there, who are already planning on doing some shopping for their fall wardrobes, check out these prints to wear for fall.

1. Stripes – to start off the list, we have stripes, which is the universal print. You can wear this print style all year round but if you want it to have a specific fall look, choose your stripe prints in warm, dark and earthy colors like black, brown, navy and plum on a white base. These are also one of the easiest print styles to mix and match with other prints in case you want to do a print on print outfit.

2. Checkered – checkered prints like gingham, tartan and plaid are very popular for fall. Incorporating these prints into your outfit is one of the best and easiest ways to add tiny pops of color to keep your outfit lively. Some people are confused about the difference between gingham print, tartan print and plaid but it’s actually quite easy to differentiate one from the other once you know what to look for.

3. Animal print – animal prints are fall and winter staples. They’re great if you want to stick to dark and neutral colors but still want to add a bit of texture and detail to your look. Animal prints are often used to give outfits a sexier look which really comes in handy during the colder seasons like fall and winter when you have to get all cozy and bundled up .

4. Dark floral print – for all the girly girls out there, who loves bright summer floral print, fret not. You don’t have to give up wearing pretty floral prints this fall but you might want to give it a bit more of a fall-ish look by going for dark floral print instead of bright ones. This is another great idea to bring more color into your fall wardrobe.

5. Marble print – looking for a print that’s not too mainstream? How about rocking a few marble print pieces here and there? Marble print is simple and abstract. They work great when mixed and matched with other prints and they do well in giving your outfit a bit of a sophisticated touch.

Have you been following along on the Spring 2015 looks at New York Fashion Week? It’s been such a varied display of bright colors and clean lines. Pops of red, orange, and yellow have all found their place on the runway, alongside classic spring staples of black and white stripes. It looks like designers were not shying away from vibrant hues for the upcoming season. There were also a few classic shades of pastels in tonal effects with sophisticated grays and creams to offset them. All in all, the looks have been very inspiring. If you’re ready to get ahead of the curve, take a look at some of the best runway looks in each trend.

Scarlet Fever

Forget the LBD - the LRD - long red dress - is where it´s at for ladylike glamour right now.

These stars know that if you´re choosing the vampiest of shades, it´s cool to cover your legs.

We´re particularly obsessing over Mrs. Beckham´s chain-detailed get-up ( her own design, of course)

Fashion-Duell: Flatterkleider

Was meint Ihr ? xo

Fall Trend : RETRO

Walk of Art

Mary Katranzou´s A/W 2013 collection was a shift away from the look-at-me paintbox prints of previous seasons to something a little more grown-up.

Cue rd-carpet pro January Jones in this rose-washed A-line beauty, quietly accessorized with dark courts and fuss-free hair to give that gorgeous tree design room to breathe......

Would you wear it ? xx
