Diamond Nails” Are The Latest Beauty Trend

If your heart went all aflutter after you saw last year’s shattered-glass nail trend, then we have excellent news. South Korean manicurist Eunkyung Park, owner of Seoul’s Unistella Salon and the creator of some of the most creative nail art we’ve ever seen, has sparked yet another trend we’re dying to get our hands on (or rather, get on our hands). And if you can believe it, it’s even shinier — and more mesmerising — than her last.

Where the glassy technique used pieces of cellophane to create a prismatic effect, the updated version uses what looks like holographic foil that you’d find at a craft store. Park hasn’t shared her exact method of creating the look, but our guess is that she employs a similar cut-and-glue M.O. to create that diamond-like shine. (Hence why Park calls it the 3-D diamond nail.)

Considering just how quickly its predecessor look shot to Instagram stardom, don’t be surprised if diamond nail art starts showing up on your feed, like, yesterday. Want to beat everyone else to the punch? Grab some foil, a clear topcoat, a pair of scissors, and give it a try. Just don't do it on days you need to concentrate — because you won't be able to look away.

Best Matte Nails To Rock This Fall

Matte nails are Fall’s biggest nail trend for a few years now. It started off with the matte black and has quickly spread to all designs and colors – red, grey, white, blue, etc. When we think of a nice manicure, our mind immediately jumps to shiny, well-maintained nails. But sometimes we need something different – something edgier. Matte nails will give you that statement grunge look.

Check out our favorite ways to do matte nails, just in time for fall!

Beauty: Fall Couture Runway 2016

Paris Fall Couture 2016 gave fashion designers an opportunity to show off their latest designs, conceptions and creative know-how and nothing was left to the imagination. Details were on full display this fall couture runway—especially when it came to beauty looks. Below I’ve got some top beauty looks from the couture shows held in Paris. A lot of the shows were all about the eyes. Some went for more uniform looks while others were up to interpretation. Check out some of the top looks below and be sure to let me know what you think in the comments section.

The models at the Alterier Versace show were given two very different looks. While some models were sent down the runway in wine-red lipstick and barely-there eyes, others donned a blue silvery cat-shaped eye shadow looks with nude lips.

Ralph and Russo went for a more dramatic effect sending models down the runway wearing sharp 80s inspired makeup practically reaching their eyebrows, along with braids that gave their models a futuristic look. Check it out down below.

Makeup artist, Peter Phillips of Dior gave models unique eyeliner looks, creating a different look for each model. They wore a variation on the classic cat liner interpreted in different shades and styles. Check out .

Chanel kept things uniform by giving their models the same doll-like appearance. By keeping the liner and lashes in the center of the eyes, makeup artist, Tom Pecheux managed to give Chanel’s models a wide-eyed appearance.

Alexis Mabile also sent models down the runway in doll-like looks. This time, opting for some Twiggy style lashes while keeping the rest of the face as natural looking as possible. An ode to the sixties, perhaps

Hair: Air Drying Tips for Spring and Summer

Summer’s coming and you know what that means…..perfect timing for air-drying your hair and getting those gorgeous beachy waves all our favorite celebs are sporting. No matter what type of hair you have, short, long, thick, fine…no one wants to spend all summer long with the blow dryer and a flat iron – it’s much too hot for that! Plus – there’s many more important things – like spending the day by the pool or meeting your favorite gal pals for happy hour al fresco. Not sure you have the whole air-drying thing under control? Here are a few tips to get it just right:

Get those perfect beachy waves. Wash hair before you head to bed. Towel and air dry for just a bit until it’s no longer dripping and is just damp. Use a good amount of volumizing mousse throughout and put hair in a loose braid. Head to bed and let it dry overnight like that. When you wake up, shake out the braid for perfect beachy waves.

To control puffiness and frizziness (even with thick and curly hair). Add your favorite styling crème to damp hair, tousle it around to be sure the product is even distributed. Tie hair in a loose bun and leave it twisted until it dries. When it’s dry, undo the bun and scrunch the hair with your hands – you can even add a bit more product at this point. Once it’s all scrunched – you’re good to go!

For that ideal loose and little bend midway down, tuck damp hair behind your ears and use clips to hold it in place. Keep the clips there until hair thoroughly air dries. When it’s all dry, remove the clips, shake it out and mist with a light hair spray. You’ll love this easy style.

For textured and defined waves that stay all day. Spray hair down with your favorite sea salt spray and then braid damp hair into multiple (maybe 4-6) loose braids. Let hair dry completely and remove braids. Shake and tousle and you’re good to go!

What do you think? Will air-drying be your go-to hair solution this summer?

Beauty Looks From Bridal Week

This week, I shared a post on how to get a look from New York Bridal Fashion Week at home. Miami bridal stylist, Niurka Mendoza owner of salon Styles by NM shared her tips on how to get this gorgeous tousled hair look. Today, Mendoza is going to help you achieve a classic updo as seen on the New York Bridal Week runway. Check out the look below and let me know if you try this look at home.
The braided look below seems complex, but according to Mendoza, it’s all about perfecting that technique. “The braided look, it’s a little more complex because if you don’t know how to braid your hair yourself it’s not going to be easy for you. YouTube has great tutorials on brides which is always a plus.”
  1. Start off with curled hair to create some texture. To decrease frizziness, Mendoza suggests reaching for a pomade before sectioning your hair into two parts, the crown and the nape. Start off by pinning you hair from your crown to the top of your head as you’ll be working with hair from the nape of your neck.
  2. “Put the hair at the nape into a medium high pony tail. Use bobby pins to pin sections of your hair onto the scalp in order to create a soft bun effect.”
  3. Now that you’re done with the bottom section of your hair, you want to focus on those intricate braids. “Part the top section of your hair down the middle and begin a French braid on each side so that you have a middle part and two French braids. Bring the braids to the back to overlap the bun. Secure with pins and spray with Moroccan oil spray to keep the hair in place.”

Purple Lipstick

Let’s get real here: purple isn’t exactly the shade or color you’d go for if you wanted a lip color that you can sport easily but does that mean you can’t wear this gorgeous, majestic color on your lips anymore. If you’re looking for something unique to add to your makeup collection or if you’re looking for something to add to you makeup look that would help you make a statement, why not give purple lipstick a try? Here are some tips on how to wear purple lipstick in real life.

FIND A SHADE THAT COMPLEMENTS YOUR SKIN TONE – just like any other lipstick color, purple lipstick comes in a wide variation of shades so your mission, really, is not to pick one and make it work but rather to find that one shade that will look really, really good with your skin tone and rock it. Dark, vampy, purple berry colors look great on just about anyone so if you haven’t already found your perfect purple shade yet, you can stick to that for a while.

KEEP THE REST OF YOUR MAKEUP SIMPLE AND FRESH – purple lips are a statement in and of their own so it’s important that you keep the rest of your makeup simple and fresh to avoid having too much going on with your look. When wearing purple lips, opt for a neutral look for the rest of your face. It will keep your face looking bright and lively while also allowing your purple lips to take center stage without looking obnoxious.

Perfect Eyeliner

If you have ever found yourself standing in front of the mirror battling shaky hand as you try to apply eyeliner, you aren’t alone. There’s nothing worse than rushing around to get ready, only make mistakes with eyeliner or have it come out looking nothing like what you envisioned. Whether you typically go for more of a natural look or you’re after a dramatic cat eye, knowing a few eyeliner hacks will help you get the job done as planned. Want to be the envy of all your friends when you’re eye makeup is stunning? Keep reading for a few secrets to perfect eyeliner.

If shaky hands are your issue, use a lightly toned eyeliner pencil to create that perfect line you’re after. Once you have it just the way you like it, trace over that light line with a darker, more dramatic liquid liner. The light line will help guide your hand to get the perfect look.

If a soft and somewhat mushy eyeliner pencil is giving you troubles with smudging, put it in the freezer for ten minutes or so. The tip of the pencil will stiffen up just enough to make gliding it along your lid smooth as silk.

Are your eyeliner troubles rooted in creating the actual line? Rather than starting with a line, create a series of dots – and then, connect them. This will making creating that soft line much easier.

For a brightening and wide-eyed effect, invest in a pale pink eyeliner (it works wonders!). Use it along your waterline, in the corners of your eyes and even along the brow. It will perk up and brighten up your whole face.

If you want more of a natural and subtle look, add a bit of eyeliner to your waterline, in between the lashes. It will help define your eyes without appearing overdone.

If you’re really after a dramatic cat eye, opt for a gel liner and a brush. This will give you the most control and will allow you to get the perfect look.

Use a business card of a small piece of scotch tape to create and trace a stencil right by your lid. This is another great trick for anyone who struggles with shaky hands.

Dab a bit of concealer on both your bottom and top lids to keep eyeliner in place all day.
