Falltrend: Layering

Now that the temps are starting to drop, you’ll need to start bundling and cozying up as well if you want to survive the outdoor weather comfortably. Aside from wearing chunkier items of clothing, one way to keep warm this fall is to layer. Layering allows you to create different looks, too, and what’s great about it is that you don’t have to especially buy new pieces to layer because you can simply make do with what you already have in your closet – great for those who are already done for their fall shopping. One thing about layering, though, is that it tends to make you look bulky but that’s a fairly easy issue to solve. Here are some tips on layering for fall to help you achieve a warm and chic outfit as well as a nicely balanced silhouette.
  • Limit it to three layers – limiting your layers to three keeps your silhouette looking rational. It’s much more practical, too, especially when the topmost (third) layer is something that can easily be removed when adjusting from outdoor to indoor temps. A typical combo would be a shirt, a jacket then a scarf or a coat. You can also try layering summer dressed with a sweater and then a jacket – the layering combinations are basically endless and just depends on what you have on hand.

Keep it thin – thinner pieces are more ideal for layering. You are going to be piling them on top of each other anyway so that’s sure to keep you warm. If it’s freezing outside and you feel the need to wear something heavy and chunky, wear it as the topmost layer only. This way, your silhouette won’t get as bulky and chunky.

Choose your fabrics wisely – there are fabrics that you can wear that aren’t as thick and heavy and chunky but are just as comfy. Leather, for example, provides great warmth without the chunk plus it gives off a nice, sleek and chic look too. Use these to your advantage and wear them to avoid too many layers and a too-heavy silhouette.

Keep it interesting – it’s so easy to lean towards going monochromatic when layering outfits and while there’s nothing wrong with that, just make sure that you keep your outfit interesting by adding sophisticated accessories or a pop of color into the mix.

Falltrend: Blazer

It´s become ultimate wardrobe best frien - the go - with-everything jacket.

Anything goes this season, from clasic black and posh-boy-college stripes to pulent golden-eagle motifs.
For a eal fashion injection, replace elbow patches with elbow slits.

It´s a great eveningwear option but nothing says Parisian cool like a blazer , skinny jeans and Chelsea boots...

If you still haven´t got one, what are you waiting for ?

Plain T-Shirt - how to wear

A plain white t-shirt is one of the most versatile pieces you’ll ever have in your closet. Boat neck, v-neck, round collar, or crew, the choice is up to you. You can never have too many and keeping them pristine is an absolute must for a timeless, fashionable look. Having a variety in your closet can make for easy dressing, particularly on days when you don’t want to think too hard about what to wear but still want to look chic. Add your favorite pair of jeans, a great jacket and some of these accessories to pull off casual elegance. Read ahead for some of my favorite style tips.

1. Printed Scarf – Add color, patterns, and current trends to an otherwise simple outfit with a bold printed scarf.

2. Dramatic Earrings – Frame your face with some dramatic earrings and let the t-shirt do its job as a simple anchor for otherwise sparkly jewelry

3. Statement Necklace – To bring the attention up towards your face, choose a bold, statement necklace over a simple white tee.

AUDREY HEPBURN STUNS IN BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S .... WHY ?

One of the most beautiful movies to come from the 1960’s, Audrey Hepburn stars as a dreaming girl who lives life in a frivolous, yet down to earth manner in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Here are the top reasons that her character, Holly Golightly, is easily on the top of my list for most amazing fictional characters ever!
She Eats What She Want

All too often we see women feeling pressured into eating the “diet foods”…not Holly! She eats what she wants when she wants it! Eating donuts and coffee first thing in the morning? OK!
She Dresses in Style

For a woman to be expected to keep up her appearance isn’t as required today as it was back in the 60’s. A woman who chooses to value herself and show that outwardly by taking the time to style herself is a confident forward thinking woman in my mind.
She Decorates in New Ways

There has never been a film with a bathtub couch before Audrey Hepburn debuted this gorgeous piece of furniture in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Why not take a chance – go with what YOU like!

She Never Stops Dreaming

Even while she may not be able to afford the luxury of Tiffany’s, she never gives up on her dream! And when she comes close to fulfilling her dreams, she appreciates every little step along the way.
She Never Underestimates the Power of Red Lipstick

Even when everything around you feels like it’s crumbling down, flip open your mirror, uncap your lipstick, and pucker up because everything is going to be all right. It’s psychologically proven that the color red ignites emotions of confidence and a “make it happen” attitude.
She Rocks the Timeless Monochromatic Trend
While our style calendar may be experiencing a rebirth of this trend, Audrey Hepburn knew how to rock this look long before it graced any catwalk. Take it from the pro – pair your girly separates in black and white for a flawless look.
What do you think – does she win in your mind? Let me know your thoughts on this super classy lady in the comments below! xo

Interior Design - how to use Wallpaper

Sometimes adding new accents to your home can immediately make it feel fresher and more vibrant. A simple update, like adding new wallpaper in a bold pattern, can make the whole room feel as though it’s been redesigned. I’ve taken some of my favorite design concepts and shared them  below. These are easy changes that can really take the whole room in a new direction. Which one is your favorite?
Creative Ways to Use Wallpaper
1. Behind Existing Shelves – Place bold colors and patterns inside existing wall units to make the area really pop.

2. On Stair Risers – This is an area that’s often forgotten but makes a big impact when highlighted in bright colors and patterns.

3. As Artwork – Frame panels of your favorite wallpaper to create an interesting series on a wall. Or use the wallpaper to frame canvas tiles and arrange them in a row or square.

HOW TO WEAR PAJAMAS

Not long ago, the practice of wearing pajamas during the day was largely confined to school spirit days or the exceptional lifestyles of those whose fashion we’d care not to imitate. However, this standard is no longer. Though I was skeptical at first, I now have about five different pajama style pants that I wear for more occasions than simply lounging around the house.
Pajama style is one of those funny, “why didn’t I think of it?” fashion moments. Now, looking at all the ways that girls on the streets are rocking them, I wanted to share how pajamas can be a part of your wardrobe, too. A major bonus is that this trend is not only fashionable but comfortable!

Now, dare I say it, there’s actually a way for you to work this seemingly long-lasting trend into your office attire. As shown above, pair a sleek patterned pair of pajama pants with a tailored blazer and some pointed toe heels, and you’ve got yourself a business casual match made in heaven.
The key to this trend overall is making sure your pajama pieces look purposeful, rather than giving off an unplanned, I just-rolled-out-of-bed vibe. If you’re ready to really commit, I personally love a matching print set, like exotic floral or stripes that can then be used as separates to create two distinct looks. Another tip is to make sure you style your PJs with sophisticated footwear. One of my go-to favorites when wearing PJ pants is a patent leather pointed toe pump. And, don’t forget, elegant accessories are a must, as well. Be sure to add a chic bag (perhaps a structured tote or elegant cross-body bag) and you might even want to add a sleek bangle or a stack of skinny bracelets.

Would you dare to try this trend? Sound off in the comments below and let me know what you think! XO
