The New Bags to Buy This Season

Every season, cool new bags emerge, and pretty soon we find ourselves taking screenshots of the ones that inspire a little Instagram envy. As we move from spring to summer, bags become even more essential since there are long weekends and vacations that require some stealth accessories.
Curious to know which bags will be slung around the arms of cool fashion girls over the next few months, we went straight to the source. We tapped stylists and female entrepreneurs for their take on the best bags to buy right now. There's everything from raffia totes that are perfect for your next jaunt to Malibu to sophisticated leather bags for the city.
Want to know which styles they're snapping up?

"The perfect summer accessory, a rattan or straw bag adds a seasonal touch with a sense of nostalgia and elegance. I absolutely love this Mark Cross style, which is a collaboration with the very talented Harley Viera-Newton."

I've been a fan of Gabriela Hearst's bags for a long time, and this summer I will be carrying a new Nina bag in white leather. I love its very distinctive style, which goes perfectly with both jeans and an evening gown.

I prefer not to carry anything aside from the essentials; this bag is the perfect size to keep that policy in check. Plus, raffia is a fun texture for spring."

Spring Trend Alert: Socks + Heels

Socks with heels is a bold fashion statement that we have seen on editors and bloggers who have bold and adventurous style, but that doesn’t mean you can’t absolutely rock that trend, too. If you think that classic pumps and sandals too formal for street wear, then wear socks with them to make it cool and more casual.

quirky socks and shoes combo in different contrasting shades, or wear a quirky ensemble in your outfit like a skirt, blouse, dress, or even accessories. When wearing statement socks and shoes combos, always play it safe with the rest of your outfit and keep it simple and polished. And when wearing more colourful outfits with different patterns – opt for a neutral combination of your socks-and-shoes to balance it out.

Summer 2017 Hottest Trend – Ruffles and How To Wear Them

Ruffles are both girly and fashionable, but many women have trouble finding the right ruffles to flatter their look. You should keep ruffles away from areas of your body that are already full – you can pair ruffles with simple, clean pieces to prevent the style from overwhelming your entire figure.

Add volume to a small bust with horizontal ruffles. Ruffles that travel in a horizontal line, from shoulder to shoulder, draw attention to your bust and create the illusion of fullness.

Match a ruffled blouse with a straight, simple pant. Choose a style that flatters your figure. Boot-cut and wide-legged styles may help balance out a ruffle on top, while skinny jeans and tapered trousers will make the ruffle stand out more.

Minimize your accessories. The ruffles already act as a focal point for your outfit, and too many accessories may clash. Avoid accessories in areas near the ruffles. Skip the earrings and necklaces if you have ruffles across your shoulder, and forego the bracelets and rings if you have ruffles at your bottom hem or trimming your sleeve.

Skip ruffles on top if you want to minimize your torso or chest. If you feel self-conscious about a large bust or mid-section, skip the ruffled blouse and opt for another ruffled piece, like a skirt or an accessory.

Look for ruffles along the sleeves or bottom. If you are not certain about how ruffles along your front look, opt for a safer bet and look for a blouse with small ruffles trimming the sleeves or lower hem.

Fall Trend: Short-Strap Cross-Body Bags

Crossbody bags are so useful and what makes them so great is that are always there by your side when you need them, and let you live in a way that clutches would never be able to. Sometimes though when the strap is too long and your stuff is constantly banging against your thigh.

The solution sometimes could be to knot off the strap at the top or bottom, but stretching the straps can ruin the whole bag if you want to untie them later – so here comes fall 2016 new biggest trend – Short-Strap Cross-Body Bags. And they look unbelievably chic!

Check out our favourite styles for fall and shop the trend!

How To Wear a Skinny Scarf

Skinny scarves are in this fall season- statement necklaces and belts are being replaced with this trend in closets across the country.

The coolest part of the skinny scarf is that is adds effortless style to pretty much anything you wear. You can style them with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt to refine your look, but you can also very easily wear them on more glamorous occasions like Selena Gomez did while channeling her inner Jennifer Aniston. The super skinny scarves are more about adding that cool edgy look and there are plenty of different types and ways to wear them to suit whatever kind of look you’re going for.

Wrapped the scarf once around my neck, letting the embellished ends bring a bit of sparkle to your outfit. It gives an elongated feel – perfect for petites. To draw more attention to your neck, add a pendant necklace or statement earrings.

We rounded up all the ways to wear a skinny scarf all season long !!

Refresh Your Wardrobe

Spring-cleaning came and went. You gave away clothes to thrift shops and consignment stores and now you’re left with everything else. You love the clothes in your closet. You sincerely do, but style-wise, you just haven’t been feeling up to it. Where’d the energy that you once had waking up in the morning inspired to style yourself go? It’s time to refresh your wardrobe and step out of your style comfort zone once again. Re-style and reimagine looks from your own closet, because who has time for a trip to the mall right now, anyway?

Get DIY Happy- It’s time to tap into your crafty side. Looking up DIY tutorials is a great way to help freshen up your wardrobe and turn old style staples into new ones. Cut off the sleeves, make holes in your jeans, just do what you have to feel inspired by style again.

Mix Separates- Mix separates that you haven’t worn before and rock them with shoes and accessories, you never thought you could rock. Give yourself a goal of mixing separates you’ve never worn together, at least once a week. Turn it into a habit and see your closet transform.

Try Out Clothes You Don’t Often Wear- We all have those dresses and jeans collecting dust in our closets. It’s time to dust them off and give them new life. Wear them once and while, lady! Feel good about your outfit

Add Unexpected Accessories- Add accessories to an outfit you normally wouldn’t consider. Add spikey studs to a floral, garden party look and add dark lipstick. Your friends will start to expect the unexpected from you.

Play Dress Up- As a kid, I had a trunk full of clothes and fun accessories and would play dress up and act out scenes in my head. Now, it’s your turn to go back to those days. The best aspect of style is that it allows you to be whoever you want to be. So go in front of your mirror and have some fun! You deserve it.

Ways to Wear Pastels This Autumn

Pastels are a spring and summer staple and there’s something about them that makes us look forward to the said seasons so we can start wearing them again but this fall, you can wear these soft and feminine hues again because pastel colored everything is one of the biggest trends for the season. This is great news to those of you who aren’t exactly over the moon with dark and warm fall colors and wearing them from head to foot. If you ever find yourself looking for a nice pop of color, you can turn to pastels for that. Check out these cute ways to sport pastels in fall. -

OUTERWEAR – if you find yourself inevitably reaching for dark pieces from head to toe and you want something to lighten up your outfit, just throw on a pastel colored coat , shoes, bag or jacket and you instantly get a softer look.

PRINTS AND PATTERNS – if solid pastels are becoming too plain for you, you can spice it up by going for pastel printed pieces. You’ll find that most of your favorite prints like stripes, plaid and chevron comes in a variety of pastel color combinations. Our favorite pastel print to rock so far is the watercolor print. It’s abstract, yes, which makes it perfect for softening up any dark fall look.

ACCENTS AND ACCESSORIES – if you’re not too sure about wearing pastel colors in fall, you can do your outfit in dark colors in general and then just throw in pops of pastel colors throughout the whole outfit and it will help brighten up your look.

APP YOUR BRA SIZE

Did you know that you are supposed to get rid of your old bras every 8 months? This may not be common knowledge and neither is the fact that most women are guilty of wearing the wrong size bra to begin with. Imagine all the discomfort! In tune of 80 percent of us are guilty of this.

Apparently the problem has now been solved. There’s a little app called  Thirdlove.  It enables women to measure their dimensions in the privacy of their own home using two iPhone selfies. I know how much we love those.
Will you be trying this new technology or are you an old fashion kind of shopper? xo
