How do some women do it? They always look amazing at work. So fashionable, yet simple, while the rest of their wardrobe looks just as amazing. Seems impossible to get that look down. You’re struggling with your own work wardrobe, let alone the rest of your wardrobe. What’s a girl to do? Here’s one thing you can do: create a work uniform. No, I’m not talking plaid skirts and white blouses. I’m talking about getting a few different outfits and accessories down together for a fashionable work wardrobe that’s easy and simple to create. Check out my helpful tips below.

Choose A Color Palette- See? I told you this wasn’t your everyday uniform. Pick out a color palette that works best with the city’s climate that you work in. For example, business folks in Miami probably wear more colorful looks to work, while New Yorkers are prone to darker styles. Two to four colors should be enough.

Find 5 Shirts For The Week- Pick out five different shirts within your color palette. Choose enough for the workweek, maybe get a sixth one just in case.

Add The Rest Of Your Look- Add some extras, like pencil skirts and slacks. I would say that 5 bottoms should be enough. Get two dresses you can easily accessorize and two jackets, plus some shoes to match. You’re work uniform is almost complete!

Shoes, Purses and Accessories- Pick up some flats and kitten heels to match your color palette. Next, get two big purses to fit any papers that need to travel. After that, pick out your favorite work appropriate accessories and you’ve got up to 30 outfits that are perfect for work and sure to amazing your coworkers!

MOSCHINO - new Fashion Playground in Soho

So it should come as no surprise that Mr. Scott’s first www.moschino.com Moschino flagship in New York’s Soho neighborhood is filled to the brim with joyous items that will fill the darkened hearts of any New Yorker with at least a tinge of happiness. Take, for example, the oversize purses and heels that take up a large portion of the sales floor. There are also huge hangers in place of average clothing racks. “I’m so excited about bringing to life my super-sized iconic bags, shoes and hats,” Mr. Scott told the Observer. “That playfulness is something that I feel has been missing from the retail environment.”

In January of this year, Mr. Scott opened up a Moschino shop in Los Angeles, where he can often be found, when he’s not working for the brand in Milan. That boutique, located on Beverly Boulevard, also has a gallery-esque feeling, as it formerly housed the Hadid Gallery. While the product carried in these bi-coastal shops is more or less the same, the customer base is completely different.

“A lot of the L.A. Moschino customers are celebrities and so a lot of the business is done with personal shoppers and assistants,” he pointed out. “It has a more behind closed door feeling about it, where I think NYC will be a lot more about the people on the streets, who are trying on clothes and buying for themselves.” Aside from adding this new retail location to the Moschino portfolio, Mr. Scott has a busy few months ahead. Not only is he prepping Fall women’s collections for Moschino and his own eponymous range, he is also readying for the impending release of a documentary that charts his rise to success, titled Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer. The film will debut on September 8, at a sure-to-be star studded premiere, at Hollywood’s Chinese Theater. It will hit theaters nationwide on September 18.

Furry - Wintertime Fashions

Winter is the best time to stay in and get comfy but it’s just not possible. You have to get out there and brave the cold to get to work or to school or to whatever else keeps you occupied during the day so the next best thing is to dress up in cozy and comfy clothes. And what better way to get comfy while you’re out in the cold than to don something furry and fuzzy? If you’re looking for something to warm you up for the coming colder winter days, check out these fuzzy, furry fashion items that you can cozy up in.

LONG FUR GILET – on days when a super warm and heavy outfit isn’t necessary, a gilet would be a really nice piece to have. It’s not too chunky and it won’t have you feeling too hot like a full on jacket or coat but it’ll still keep you feeling cozy and snug. Instead of going for regular fur, go for long fur. It give your outfit a much more elegant look. Faux goat hair is a great alternative, too.

Summer Cocktails Styling Inspiration

Now that the calendar has officially moved into July, I feel the need to share with you a few of my favorite summertime martinis – with inspired outfit of course! So cheers to summer my loves!

The Milky Way 

Ingredients:

(Makes 1)

1 ½ cups of ice cubes

¼ cup cold water

2 fluid ounces vanilla-flavored vodka

2 fluid ounces white crème de cacao

2 fluid ounces Irish cream liqueur

1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

How To:

1.    Chill a martini glass by filling it with 1/2 cup of ice and cold water.

2.    Place 1 cup of ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour the vanilla-flavored vodka, white crème de cacao, and Irish cream liqueur over the ice; cover and shake vigorously. Dump the ice and water from the martini glass and drizzle the inside of the glass with chocolate syrup. Strain the cocktail into the glass to serve.

What to Wear:

Pulling from the milky deliciousness of this after-hours treat, you can start with a nude base alå maxi dress style. The design of this cocktail is in the details – how amazing does it look with those chocolaty stripes? Throw in your own version by adding some striped accessories – a bag or shoes maybe? Finish with your favorite lip gloss and you’re set!

Pineapple Upside-down 

Ingredients:

(Makes 2)

2/3 cup pineapple juice, chilled

1/3 cup vanilla flavored vodka

1 dash grenadine syrup

2 pineapple wedges

2 maraschino cherries

How To:

1.    Pour the pineapple juice, vodka and grenadine into a shaker full of ice. Shake, then strain into two martini glasses.

2.    Garnish with a piece of pineapple and a cherry on a skewer.

What to Wear:

With pineapples taking the forefront as summer 2014’s novelty print, what better way to celebrate than with a styled cocktail! Throw in some tropical prints via trendy tee or novelty bag and accent with hues of pinks and cream for a delicious ensemble that will surely sweeten your afternoon! Mix in a bit of ombre for a delightful twist on this classic summertime treat!

How to Shop Your Closet

Sometimes it’s easy to forget about the amazing pieces of clothing that already reside in our closets. Unless you spend hours going through it on a daily basis, chances are, only the newly acquired pieces stick out in your mind. But the trick to putting together unique and interesting outfits often lies in searching through pieces you already own and putting them together in new ways. This affords you more opportunities to wear pieces nobody else will have because they’ve been procured months or sometimes years in advance of what stores currently have as well as increases your outfit creativity. Read ahead for ways on how to shop your existing closet and make those pieces shine.

1). Create a style book. Take pictures of your most special pieces. Go through your closet and pick out items with prints, stripes, or interesting cuts and textures. You don’t need to categorize your simple basics. But do focus on standout pieces. Then print the images and put them into a binder you can flip through when you’re stumped for outfit ideas. Do this seasonally to make sure your pictures are up to date.

2) Categorize your shoes. Take photos of your shoes and either post them on the outside of the boxes or put them into your style book for easy reference. It’s easier to create a head-to-toe look when you can see what’s available to you.

3) Go digital. If a physical style book isn’t your style, try apps like Stylebook , which will help you organize your wardrobe and suggest combinations based on the pieces you enter.

4) Move things around. Every season, go through your closet, discard what you don’t wear, and reorganize your items in a different way (place them in a different section of the closet) to force your eye into seeing things from a fresher perspective. This will help you pick out and wear pieces you may have been ignoring before.

SIMPLE TIPS FOR DRESSING FOR THE JOB YOU WANT

Anyone will tell you to “dress appropriately” for an interview. But what does that even mean? Whether you’ve landed an interview for your dream internship or a part-time gig as a barista, these foolproof tips will help you ensure you leave a lasting impression.

1. Always mirror the work environment dress code

If you’re interviewing for a job at a financial institution, you’ll have to stick with basic shapes, as that is the appropriate dress form for that workplace. If you’re interviewing at creative offices then you have more freedom.

2. Pick one brightly colored article of clothing or accessory.

Hello color! If you want to add a pop of color (or color block) this is totally acceptable. Mixing colors is fine just don’t introduce more than one super bright piece or your outfit will just become loud.

3. Don’t default to the standard blazer and pant – unless you really want to.

Skirts and dresses are a great way to stand out. Skirts shouldn’t be too tight or short — pencil skirts or midi skirts are both great options. Tuck in a button up or layer one with a knit for a more conservative look.

4. Dress for the job you want, not the one you had or currently have.

This is important! If you are competing for the position of assistant to the editor-in-chief at Teen Vogue, with the hopes of eventually becoming an editor, dress like an editor would! You’ll feel more empowered and come off that way in the meeting. It makes the world of a difference.

5. As a rule of thumb, one piece of statement jewelry will go a long way.

Don’t over accessorize – it’s distracting. Instead opt for a few bangles, or a bold necklace.

6. Opt for heels where possible.

 Heels give you a lift, make you walk straighter and just elevate any simple look to the next level. If possible, throw a pair on! Just keep it around or under 3″.

7. Keep your makeup natural.

Let all the attention be on what you have to say, not what you have on your face. Go for a simple eyeliner and mascara, with light blush and nude lips. Anything that will make you look polished, work awake and vibrant is perfect. 

8. Dress to flatter your body type.

This should seem obvious, but the most important thing about dressing well is always flattering your individual body type with things that fit you best. That plan-b knit top that works so well when you’re in a rush – that’s probably the kind of the thing you want to consider, not the leopard print pants you’ve but test drove once to your BFF’s house party.
