Giuseppe Zanotti Spring Summer 2017 Campaign

Lensed by Mario Sorrenti and starring models Maartje Verhoef and Jordan Barrett, the new portfolio offers a fresh and focused point of view, highlighting the raw yet refined energy of the Spring 2017 collection. Photographed in a studio, the images channel the expressive nature of snapshot photography, putting the season’s shoes in stark contrast.

“My collections always have an element of the raw, sexy but urban mixed with the refined and the sophisticated, it’s this balance that makes them very GZ” Giuseppe Zanotti.

Healthy Foods against Winter Stress

When your plate is full of responsibilities and you’re praying for just one moment of peace, it can be really difficult to put one foot in front of the other; believe us, we know what it’s like. Taking time for yourself can be hard to do, but if you make it a point to take just a few minutes to grab a snack, you might be surprised to find that your stress will start to fade. That is if you know what kind of snack to grab! While “comfort food” might sound like the right choice, these healthy snacks are what you should be reaching for when you want to de-stress:

·      Leafy Greens: While a salad might not exactly ring your “comfort food” bell, there is quite a bit to say about how a bunch of fresh greens can positively affect your body and your mindset! Crazy as it sounds, spinach actually helps you to produce dopamine, the pleasure chemical, with how much folate it contains. If you need to chill, why not make a little salad and you’ll feel great in no time!
·      Oatmeal: Start your day off with a big bowl of steel cut oats and you’ll be setting yourself up for a positive start! Since complex carbs (think no sugar) are known to help the brain create serotonin, a ‘happy’ chemical, you can effectively control your blood sugar levels so your body has a steady supply of serotonin to last you through ‘til lunch.
·      Blueberries: A handful of these little guys is just what you mind needs to relieve your stress! Since blueberries are full of antioxidants and phytonutrients (basically the superheroes of nutrients), the stress hormones in your body won’t stand a chance! Bonus: blueberries have been proven to improve your chances against cancer by boosting your immunity!
·      Salmon: If you’re feeling anxious, your body is probably on overdrive creating adrenaline and cortisol, the main hormones that are associated with stress. Luckily, the omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon have been proven to help counteract these stress-inducing hormones. Why not head to the sushi bar and indulge in some delicious stress-fight salmon bites?
·      Pistachios: This delicious snack is an easy way to fight anxiety and enjoy a few moments for yourself. Pack yourself a bag of these nuts and crack a few open when you get hungry. Not only will the repetitive motion with your hands help you to chill out physically, but the phytonutrients found in these nuts will help to calm your brain and offer cardiovascular support as well!
·      Dark Chocolate: Okay, I saved the best for last! While dark chocolate has been proven to aid in heart health, your mind can also benefit from this sweet treat! Not only your morale improve from indulging your sweet-tooth, but the antioxidants in the rich cocoa will help your blood vessels to relax, which in turn leads to lower blood pressure and improved circulation. Treat yourself to a bit of dark chocolate and let the stress just melt off your body!

The phrase, “you are what you eat,” can certainly apply here – when you know what kind of properties are in your food you can pick the right snacks to benefit any situation, even the most stressful moments! Which of these super foods that help fight stress will you be stocking up on?

Closet Inventory

Do you find yourself turning to your closet and realizing that you have nothing to wear? None of your separates match, and your dresses seem outdated. If you have this problem, it’s time that you build a better closet with clothes that you can wear for a long time rather than looks that seem like they can only be donned until they’re out of style. Build a closet you can be proud of with looks you’ll love for a long time. Check out my tips for building a better closet.

Do An Inventory- Have a dress that you haven’t worn for a long time? As much as you want to keep it, it might be time to let it go. Send it to a direct-give charity or an organization like Goodwill. You can even sell those pieces you don’t wear anymore on apps like Poshmark or at stores like Beacon’s Closet. Make a profit from those pieces you once loved.

End Fast Fashion- Stop shopping at fast fashion stores. Your Forever21 cotton jersey dress may look good on the rack, but do you really think it’ll last the test of time? Fast fashion is a dangerous road to go down so stay away from those stores and be more willing to pay higher prices for pieces that will actually last.

Staple Pieces- Aim for some staple pieces that you can wear with more than one look. Get some nice button downs and some pencil skirts along with a good pair of jeans. These are pieces that you can build on while sticking to your personal style.

Create A Capsule- Create a uniform so you have go-to pieces. This way, you’ll never look at your closet and decide that you have nothing to wear. There are plenty of ways you can do this. I like to play with a color palette. Then, I buy a certain number of looks to build upon that color palette. Eventually, I have enough items in my closet to make a uniform for any occasion.

Haartrend: Vokuhila

What To Wear To Coachella 2015

The Coachella Festival is a music and arts celebration held yearly at Indio, California. Started in 1999, this annual festivity is known for its wide range of musicians – and the unique fashion styles channeled by its performers and spectators. Prepare yourself for this year’s Coachella Festival by dressing up in looks inspired by the hip and edgy fete.

MAGNIFICENT IN A MAXIIf you want a fuss-free outfit that will let you do what you want, whenever you want – then go for a maxi dress. This flowy attire is sure to make you look ethereal, so wear it hardware! Good examples include statement accessories and thick bangles.

NICE IN NEONSimilar to Coachella’s luminescent displays are the neon wears of its performers, as well as the watchers. After all, you will want to stand out in a sea of music/art fanatics. While neon pieces are perfect options, you don’t necessarily have to be in a highlighter-like outfit. Neon accessories, such as funky jewelries or a bright bag, will keep you true to the Coachella tradition as well.

FINE IN A FLOPPY HAT

The Californian sun can be unforgiving, so make sure to wear a floppy hat. This boho chic accessory gives you the license to wear your hair in a sexy yet unkempt, bedhead manner.

FRESH IN A FLORAL HEADBAND

The Coachella festival style is reminiscent of the 70’s and boho chic. Of course, the best way to channel these styles – and unleash the inner wild child in you – is to wear a floral headband.

At it has been said, you can expect the California sun to shine down on you this coming Coachella festival. Keep your eyes protected – and amazing – with a unique pair of sunglasses.

BEAUTIFUL IN BOOTIES

If your boots are made for walking, then make sure to wear them at the 2015 Coachella festival. With its versatile look, you can wear it with basically everything. Whether it’s a short shorts or an elegant maxi dress, it’s sure to look great with your summer booties.

Fall Home Decor Ideas

Use clear glass containers you may already own and fill them with natural pumpkins, acorns, and squash for an easy, earthy and chic way to celebrate the time of harvest.

Get playful with carved pumpkins and fall leaves for a whimsical outdoor setup. The throw pillow adds a great graphic touch.

For a lively dinner setup, try oversized pumpkins painted in white against a colorful tablecloth. Keep these around for the season to use at brunches, lunches, and family dinners. Add votive candles for evening events.

Get crafty with a glittery garland that brings the outdoors in. Choose varying shades to mimic the colors of the season.

Let me know your ideas ?

Make Your Own Baby Food

Have you ever wondered about making your own baby food? While it’s super convenient to rely on pre-made and packaged baby foods, making your own is actually easier than you think. Homemade baby food is natural, packed with nutritious ingredients and less expensive than pre-packaged items. Not to mention, you know exactly what ingredients you’re feeding your special little loved one. With a little creativity, a food processor and a sauce pan, you’ll be on your way. Take a look at these tips for how to make your own baby food that you can feel good about.

Start by choosing the right tools.  You’re going to need a few things to get the baby food perfectly soft and pureed – there are a few good options out there.
  • A regular kitchen food processor or blender. You probably already have one of these on hand and each will definitely get the job done, though might be more useful for making large batches of baby food.
  • A food mill. This traditional kitchen tool is actually portable and non-electric; it’s a great option and has been used for years to puree.
  • A hand blender. Pretty convenient and easy to use, this tool requires electricity and works the opposite way of a blender.
  • A baby food maker. These tools steam and puree all in one. You can use this for veggies, fruits and even meat.
  • A fork! Sounds so simple, but steamed veggies and fruits are easy to mash up with a fork (think banana, avocado or sweet potato) and you can typically find one anywhere.
Select the best ingredients for your baby, like fresh organic produce and locally sourced meats. Start out simple with fresh fruits like bananas, apricots, apples, plums, peaches, pears and mangoes. And for veggies, try carrots, sweet potatoes, squash and peas.
Wash and cook the fruits and veggies to be sure they a soft before pureeing. You can easily steam, boil or bake produce and meats and even add a bit of the liquid when pureeing the food. Be sure to peel any skin, remove pits, seeds and any fat or skin on poultry or meat.
Simply add the cooked and softened ingredients to your pureeing device (or use a fork!) and mash to a soft, smooth consistency. The homemade baby food can be frozen in small containers or even ice cube trays and will actually last up to six months (meat and poultry about two months).
What do you think? Now that you know how to make your own baby food, will you give it a try?

“Healthy” Foods That Are Actually Bad For You

Ugh. Just when you thought you were doing the right thing, reeling in your unhealthy habits and getting your nutrition plan back on track, you find out this discouraging news: there’s a bunch of “healthy” foods that are actually really bad for you out there. At least when you indulge in a small serving of ice cream or a delicious slice of chocolate cake – you know it’s an indulgence and it’s a must-do special treat every once in a while. But what about those foods you thought were healthy and really they’re packed with nutrition busting calories and ingredients. Take a look at these waistline busters that seem healthy, but in reality may be sabotaging your diet plan.

1. Pre-made salads. The already prepared salad is a super simple way to fall victim to having more calories than a big mac packed onto a big pile of leafy greens – it can be a real calorie buster. Watch out for salads packed with cheese, crutons, meats and dried fruits (like Cobb, Caesar, Chef’s salads) – often they also like to pack on the dressing. Try asking for the dressing on the side and make selections that include greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, sprouts and grilled chicken and turkey. Most restaurants are pretty go-with-the-flow these days when it comes to making heart-healthy substitutions.
2. Multi-grain or wheat bread. As it turns out, even when you think you’re making the right decision by choosing wheat over white, many mass produced brands of wheat bread do not actually give you the benefit of the whole grain. When you’re checking out the ingredients list, watch out for breads that include the terms: unbleached enriched or bleached. Try skipping the calories of bread in general – or cut your normal intake in half, by trying an open-faced sandwich with just one slice instead of two.
3.  Granola. Just the word sounds earthy, crunchy and healthy – doesn’t it? Well, think again. Most store-bought granola packs a calorie punch exceeding 400 calories per serving. Often made with loads of sugar and fat, store-bought granola doesn’t offer much in the way of nutritional value. Opt to skip granola entirely and try a high-fiber, low-sugar cereal instead.
4. Gluten-free products. This is tricky as gluten-free living is all the rage right now, but the products made specifically for those who have a gluten allergy do not mean they’re healthier or low in calories. If you’re choosing to go gluten-free as a diet option, skip out on replacing all your foods with gluten-free products and simply focus on a diet high in leafy greens, fresh fruits and lean proteins. If you must have gluten-free products – be sure to check those labels and carefully read the calorie count. The extra eggs and oil used in these products can really add up.
5. Pre-packaged applesauce. This one is sneaky as it seems like such an innocent and healthy snack – too bad most store-bought applesauce packs on the sugar and high fructose corn syrup in those tiny little snack packs. If apple sauce is your must-have snack, look for unsweetened, try making your own or simply opt for a nice, crisp apple.
Have you recently adjusted your diet for a more balanced and healthy option?

Sommer schön

Let the sun shine!!

UV-Schutzspray ein Must!!

Alles klar? Bon Voyage!!! xo
